weird that our numbers basically didn't update after 11:00 am (PST). Starting to trust them about as much as China's.

It's not "coming from New York" to where you live, it's already there.

The cat has been out of the bag since January 20, when both the US and South Korea had case #1 and they did something and we did nothing. Now it's everywhere. Drop a nuke on New York today and it won't affect your ultimate local rate of coronavirus infection. Until there's a vaccine it's all local and personal. Worry about that, not what others are doing.
Now why did you have to go and give tRump that particular idea??? Fuck, that's all we need. He'd love to nuke something.

A lot of the health agencies don’t report stats on sundays.

I’m going to do my job. I’m going to get it, I’ll probably be ok after a wicked cold. I may crash and have to die with some nurses at a hospital. It will be horror, but less so than burning alive in a fire shelter or buried with broken limbs in a slide or with severed legs from a tree accident or motorcycle fuckup. Gimme all the drugs! I want to eat cannabis for the last time. It’s been a good run.

Maybe one of the med people can answer:
Obviously an asymptomatic person is contagious.
But are they less contagious than a severely ill person?
Not just because of the coughing sneezing, but just the viral load itself?
Like viral load in asymptomatic still registers on test, but not very much.
Very sick person, more virus and growing?

Yeti if you just parked the bus and got off and went home they could fit another homeless guy in there. Plus they would save on gas. win-win.

It does seem like that would be the case at least in general. I would think there has to be some correlation between severity of symptoms and severity of infection, but I don't know it for a fact.

My list: please hassle these people mercilessly. Kick em in the nuts. Put a turd under their door handle...don’t feel badly about it. These are bad people, who went far out of their way to really screw me when they had no reason to do so:
    Doug Terry of Terry Sports
Rich Tingle of Santa Fe Hotshots
Wanda Grey of salt lake blm
The current GM of our ski hill
My current supervisors, who, if I do get infected and die, put us all in that position with their combination of willful ignorance of this easily-assessed risk and openly callous disregard for the lives and wellbeing of their employees and their families.

Really sorry powdork...can’t say I’ve been there with my mom, but I’ve been there with my mother in law who I loved and still miss.

In principle you're correct, but it's more complex than that (surprise). It's a fairly good bet for CV19 that the severity of disease is proportional to the viral load, but location clearly matters. For example, this virus can have limited, but some GI issues presumably independent of the viral load in the nose/throat area where testing occurs. That scenario could impact testing and infectivity.

    ^^
All of this is unknown at the moment though

Being single and living alone is definitely a double edged sword right now.
