Powder chaser Steve has the best CO forecasts. General storm track and timing not specifics is most important to me. Fuck the resorts.

Basically all he's good for is answering the question "is it going to snow?" - otherwise, just read the NOAA Forecast Discussion 24 hours beforehand to get a better synopsis, without all the stupid comments.

You can't be wrong if you cover all your bases. Gotta expect this from someone whose income predominately comes from the resorts.

    Sweet! How was the base?

San Juan Mtn Guides posted a video from RM3 which looked like Champions. IIRC, it has similar aspect to Grande or Gnar and also looked nice. We couldn't pull it off on Saturday and kind of regretted it, though Sunday was a fun day, too.

Those last couple heavy wet storms are going to leave some base going for quite a while now.
Thanks. There's more of that and Silverton Mtn.

Not sure that's true. After it melts to the dust layer it'll go fast unless overdue spring storms lay a deep layer on top. The dust and crust is definitely a slip plane if a lot gets deposited. My puppy tested it by laying on the slope to rest and slid 20 feet.

Eh, I think we can expect dust every year in the foreseeable future.
Better dust and then new Saturday snow versus dust and no new snow at all.
Much better no dust and Tuesday snow but oh well.

I only bottomed out on one wind scoured spot and no one connected with any rocks that I noticed. Saw a couple people get bucked in some old slide debris though. Boot top pow and surfy everywhere else! Wish it would last!

In the things annoying thread I mentioned friends that ask advice and don’t take it. Friend of mine has three dead pine trees next to her house. If they were in a field I’d drop them without thinking twice. But 40’ next to House inbetween a fence, just out of my league, and insurance policy. One fell the other day and did about as little damage as you could hope, and I’m like here’s a name and number get those dropped immediately. Still hand wringing over the money. Some things just aren’t optional...

Out of curiosity: who’s responsible for paying for cleaning up a tree like that? If it’s in the street ROW, is it the city? If it’s 2” over into the homeowner’s property, than the property owner? Does insurance cover that?
