^ that's the damn truth. one of my kids is about 10 UTR. some of his points i've watched, particuarly in doubles (which owns the city i live in) are just frighting. like how in the hell do you even see the ball, much less hit the damn thing. and 10 UTR is one hell of a long way from the open.

Rain messing things up today. Good to see Keys win. Fed up next. I predict quick work for him.

#1 Pliskova down a set and 2-2 in the second vs Gibbs. Hard courts are the great equalizer.

Federer with two 5 setters in the first two rounds. That's not the way things usually play out.

Hopefully he can find his stride.

Sharapova with a gritty win when she clearly didn't have her best stuff.

Big day here at Arthur Ash Stadium. Nadal is the final daytime match and then Federer is the first game in the prime time slot.

Some great women's matches. Would have loved to be at that Coco match. Nice win for her. She have some John McEnroe influence? Chucking rackets, yelling and screaming. Love the spirit.

Sharapova goes down in 3 sets. Think many women's players glad to see her out with all the cheating stuff. A few vocal about it Think many biting their tongues and saying the right thing, but glad to see her gone.

She has served her suspension, and is now back playing tennis. Is that not enough? The WTA determined a punishment and she has served it.
Do you know anything about all the "cheating stuff"?
She was tested positive for Meldonium. A drug she has taken since 2004 for a coronary artery disease. In 2016 WADA decided this drug was to be added to the list (350+ long) of substances banned from use by athletes.
As a professional athlete I know it is her job, or her doctors job, or her national sporting federations job to make sure you understand the changes to the annual changes WADA makes to the prohibited list, but I feel this is not the same as a track athlete using anabolic steroids, or a cyclist using EPO. If you want to paint them all with the same generalizing brush, go for it.

I'm glad she is back. Improves the women's field even more. A few ladies very critical of her being back. Bouchard in particular.

Pliskova and Nadal make quick work so far today. Pumped for the Coco match later.

Not apropos of anything, when did tennis bags get so immense?

It looks like the players could fit themselves in some of them. Or are they not able to keep their gear in a locker under the stadium? I understand they need a few backup items on court but those bags look like they hold a weekends worth of stuff

Genie has way bigger things to worry about than other people's problems. Some of this banned substance shit is lame. My perception is NFL athletes are juicing up like crazy, yet a tennis player can't take heart medication?
