well the superduke had no orange at all, but the supermoto had - at least - an orange KTM logo.... IMVHO, they're both better black than orange. you should see the supermoto R, all black with an orange chassis.... sooooo sexy

Picked up a 2006 Suzuki GSXR 750 in blue and white, it's ridiculously fun. Very fast, great handling, great brakes. Spooned on a set of Pilot Powers and boy does it ever suit the bill for canyon carving.

My bike got louder today - and it's going to get a little blacker, too
Slowly but steadily removing most of the chrome parts and replacing them with more black pieces...

Murphy's law in effect - got the new pipes, took it to the mech to re-jet, and found out my brakes are shot...

wait till Mrs. tex sees the bill for that one!

    You said CARVING !

How comes, when it comes to bikes, that everyone is so Epic around here . Sports bikes, track days, knee dragging, race lessons... For people who don't understand the joys of carving a clean arc on a freshly groomed run, you sure look like Harald Harb once on a bike.
Verbier is almost the only one to ride like a true maggot. A supermoto, to shred the twisties of the alps backroads.

    Gapers !

Tex, what pipes did you get? I have the BC Predators on my Thruxton and couldn't be happier. Have you pulled the airbox yet? It will feel like a whole new bike when you do. If you know how to turn a wrench at all, I suggest you do the rejetting yourself. It's not too difficult (unless you were having the mech do a dyno run w/ the rejet, of course)

I got the TORs - put on a K&N airfilter but didn't pull the airbox. I was told that pulling it would increase midrange and top end power but decrease low end torque. Most of my driving is done on backroads with a top speed of 50-60mph, so top end isn't a real concern for me and I don't want to lose the low end. i rode a buddy's bonnie with preds and liked it, but i wanted to keep a close to stock look on the pipes. my bike will look pretty close to a thrux by the time I'm done, though.

Edit: Damn this bike sounds good with the new pipes!

After rejetting, shimming the needle and dialing in the pilot mixture, I'd say the increase is across the board. I haven't had it on the dyno yet so I'm going by feel.

I can understand wanting to keep the bonnie looking pipes. That's a nice looking machine you got there. As Henry Ford said, "you can have it any color, so long as it's black."

It's all good Phillipe, chill out. Some of us like cruisin' down the highway, some like tearing it up in the dirt, some like carving a clean line in the twisty canyons and racetracks.

I haven't done a trackday yet on the GSXR, but it sure looks like fun:

All I can do is herald my motocross past, as it is now...in the past.

Next season. Gotta get some two-piece leathers and a Snowbird pass first. A couple of track classes by the Utah Sportbike Assocation prolly wouldn't be a bad idea either before going to an open track session.

Stoke thread is right!! I just read all 33 pages at the office and have been belting out exhaust notes from my chair. There are some damn nice bikes in this thread.

For those of you with the Shadow 750s, how are they with a passenger? I want an entry-level cruiser and I want the ability to take chicks out for a ride and get the juices flowing - I've heard the bikes get bogged down quickly with weight (think 180# guy, <120# chick). Any insight?

I do. I actually just got home from watching America kick some ass at the MX of Nations.
