bit of a drift but anyone been to the sound garden in seattle?
when I lived in WA yrs ago a buddy and I went there- of course we were expecting something amazing cool- it was neat- big metal poles that caught the wind and made cool organ like sounds like blowing over the tops of big beer bottles
always thought soundgarden was a dope name for a band
super bummer to hear it was suicide. makes me hurt thinking about the hurt it takes to take that stepskid luxury

His last show was near me. I was watching live streams and videos of friends at the show. Wish I would have gone.

All this Badmotorfinger today I feel like I should go smoke dirt weed in the woods, smoke a Marlboro to cover it up, then go eat dinner with my dad and stepmom trying to act "not high".

Bwah!
I went on a hike this evening with the dog and noticed many of the youngins home from college hanging out in their hammocks over the creek had some SG going on their phones and burning funny stuff.
Theirs smelled a lot better than mine did at that age.
Fucking kids these days.I still call it The Jake.

I feel fortunate to have lived in a great age for music. Maybe that is what everyone says. But who will kids speak of like this in 20-30 years? The dude with the mouse head?

Sad to hear of Chris's passing...
Always dug his sound. RIP. Whatever demons he had are now put to rest. A sad day for music.Did the last unsatisfied fat soccer mom you took to your mom's basement call you a fascist? -irul&ublo

If you happen to have the Mother Love Bone record, check the credits. Phildo. That would be me, for better or worse.
I had a production company that shared an office with Susan Silver (SG management and Cornell's future ex-wife) and Kelly Curtis (MLB then and still Pearl Jam management). All those guys were around all the time, usually carrying their mountain bikes up the stairs into the office. Blahblahblah.
Andy Wood used to constantly charm my wife. He was a very charming fellow and a sweetheart to boot. So bummed we keep losing these guys. My first idol loss heartbreak was when Lowell George died, and it just keeps happening.

Wow. If you care to share I guarantee you have at least one listener.
Already had Singles on during dinner tonight and I'm going to cue up Reality Bites depending on how much bourbon I consume - mostly just because I wanna see Winona.
Hearing from a lot of HS buddies today with funny stories. It's a 90s kinda day I guess.I still call it The Jake.

Too bad for sure with the fam, and the fact that he contributed to a bunch of stuff. Shitty if it was the depression weird if it was more like Michael Hutchence.
I don't work and I don't save, desperate women pay my way.

Kick was a great album. I don't know if the Michael Hutchence angle is any more palatable though.
Edit:
Wow, timely interview of Cameron Crowe just last week or so about making Singles.

Also reminds me to the earlier debate re: Billy Corgan, that the Pumpkins are on the original Singles soundtrack. So yes, not Seattle for sure, but definitely peers - and at Chris Cornell's suggestion.Last edited by BmillsSkier; 05-18-2017 at 09:56 PM.

I'd forgotten your connection. Your post made me think of an old friend who worked at SubPop...a few of us went to dinner, Susan was there, and I think she and Chris had married recently.
Weird how an event like this takes you back to some vivid memories you haven't thought about in forever.

It is a very small world. I saw Chris all the time, say Hi and had no clue he had a day job. Thought he might be a Trust Fund kid and rode the pow all the time in his own Private Idaho. Sleep well! Vibes +++

And still pissed at myself for not going to see Sound Garden and Monster Magnet at the Warfield in 92. If my hazy recollection can be trusted, they played two nights when I was in town. My friends went to the sold out night. I should have gone by myself to the next night which wasn't sold out. At least thats how I remember it.

1992 Lallaplooza Starlake Amphitheater. Had lawn seats. Walking about and there is a mosh pit going. Crowd starts getting bigger and bigger. Cornell was in the pit until it started getting a little too crazy as people started piling in. Security had to get him out of there. Cool that he was amongst the people.

RIP Chris Cornell.....damn that's sad
Liked the Audioslave stuff too and remember listening to Doesn't Remind Me in Japan while there for work. Walking the streets of Japan till I got lost. And I did.
