Teton. Pick you poison, 25 sucks, as does Muddy gap, and every other way from here to the Front range thankfully.

Ate at teton Thai in driggs last night, "sushi night" on top of the rest of their menu. Buffalo pho was yummy.
In Jackson for the next 4 days with the wife and i getting in laps while granny watches the 2 year old.
Skied the the ghee today. Dream catcher was running on diesel all day loading every second chair. Good wind blown fresh, cream cheese i call it. Couldn't see much but skied well.

First you gotta deal with 287, you know the deal there. Up next is I-80. Expect wind, a little more wind, drifted snow on the road, probably some ice and lots of trucks. Suggested stops: none.

Next is 191. Similar story as above. Probably less wind and ice. More snowpacked roads. Add methed-out, sleep deprived roughnecks and truck drivers to the mix. Suggested stops: Taco Johns in Rock Springs, the yuppy deli in Pinedale.

Once you get to Bondurant, it's the home stretch. Pro-tip: cocktails to go from inside the gas station.

Its a push. Weather and co-drivers will make or break you. If leaving in the evening, consider getting a motel in Rock Springs, getting up early and still getting a full day of skiing in.
Yup coming from Estes. Was just mostly curious which routes will have less chance of closures/problems. I've only been in the area a couple times. Last time we came it was warm and sunny and we had dry roads. Went 80 to rock springs then north. Seems like the most direct route? Thanks for the info tho. We're coming up Friday, will try to be on the road early but I'm bringing a 2.5 y/o and a 32 week pregnant wife. They both like to sleep... sounds like snow early this week with a break mid-late week and another shot this weekend while we're there. Pretty stoked to get a solo day or two on the mountain.

Looks like my trip is shaping up nice! I'll be there Saturday for 4 days.

As a note, my post erroneously reads like I'm from the Tetons. To set the record straight, I'm but a choad from Colorado. No way I could properly represent the Teton Valley like Mr. Snapt. I'll make sure to offer the appropriate level of respect when I visit. Sorry.

My only issue with this is that hotels in Rock Springs are usually more expansive than Jackson the last few times I was thinking about this option and not a few bucks but close to double (compared to Motel 6...)

    no shit eh

again sounds good on paper living over the pass for 9 months of the year. Yesterday's drive up and down was gnarly as surely most of ya'll know. It's one thing to decide to go up there to ski, another thing all together to be doing that drive twice a day in the middle of winter during massive snow/avalanche cycles.

How much do you spend in gas for the commuters weekly? 1 tank? 2 tanks? 50 miles a day at minimum correct? Do you find yourself getting brakes or alignment done more with driving up and down the pass for work than you did when living on this side.

I get it some of you are buying houses over there, thats awesome! I just think its funny how people on the other side of the pass love to talk shit on Jackson?? Didn't everyone move here (to Jackson) originally to ski? So why all the hate. 3 months of the year this place is like Heaven

Thought I would jump into this thread to spread some stoke.

I'm but a humble Squaw JONG who has never been to Jackson, but I'm planning on finally coming up to check it out in March. Looking for potential partners who might be able to show me around a little bit, as I want to get fired up, and don't intend on going too big solo. For a long time people have been telling me Jackson > Squaw for big Mtn. Terrain, so I want to put that to the test.

Would be sick to meet anyone who is welcoming to a CaliBrah and can shred hard. I swear I have skills and knowledge (bold claim for a TGR forum where that usually welcomes heckling). Otherwise I will be resigned to finding the guys with the longest skis and steeziest outwear, and following them around for a while.

Also, do you guys ever post pics/stoke in this thread? Or is it just about the best places to eat/spend money? I thought TGR was about getting rad/dirt bag living!

The tacos around here are on par with the skiing. Why post skiing pics when you can talk tacos?

Can you bump your trip up any? Now is more winter-like, and March has some possibility to be more spring-like.

Oh and you Jackson people, Wobby puts more pictures of himself jumping off things than most other posters in the Tahoe thread, so you know he's cool

Wish I could, but my trip has to coincide with spring break for Grad School. But besides, I'm used to Tahoe skiing -permanent spring-like conditions! haha, I'll take what I can get. Plus maybe that will open up the possibilities for stability/conditions on bigger backcountry lines? Idk, been a while since I've dealt with intermountain snowpack. Thanks for the endorsement

Village completely without power this evening. Lots of power poles down along the road, not sure what happened. Otherwise, skiing was fantastic today. Too busy skiing to take pictures!
