Hi guys,
Any beta on Lofoten conditions? Svolvaer in particular. Perhaps a lead on someone who lives there.
Heading there April 16.

Hey, reposting this 5 days before we leave now. Thanks for any input!!!
I have tickets booked into GVA for April 16-30th, super fired up to return.
The plan for the past few months has been to ski the Haute Route, and it still is at the moment, but I wanted to get some input from your side of the pond as it sounds like the winter has been, um, variable.
I know it's not a black and white answer, but what's your take on the mid/late April touring season this year in the Cham-Zermatt zone? Would you all do the ski tour if you were in my shoes? If we don't take ski's, we will bring a climbing rack and make it more of a spring/summer sport trip, but trying to get some Intel to make the right call. Either way I'm stoked to get back into your beautiful mountain playground.
Thanks"Can switching to Geico really save you 15% or more on car insurance?"

The Alps are as dry as I've ever seen them, granted I've only been here since 2010, but still....
Coming over here will be a shock I'd think, I spent the winter in the PNW and BC and arrving back in 2 weeks ago Germany it was 21c.....
I'd say bring your climbing gear and head to the Dolomites, its cheaper than the area around Chamonix and Zermatt, and there's almost no snow there now.
Don't forget to post some stoke!

A few shots of a random day of piste skiing on the western french Pyrénées. A foot of snow fell on april 1st.
Jeans, crappy rental gear, sun burns, family fun.
April 6, Gourette.
On the way down.

"Typically euro, french in particular, in my opinion. It's the same skiing or climbing there. They are completely unfazed by their own assholeness. Like it's normal." - srsosbso

I'm also in the French Pyrenees, and skiing is fantastic, we are ticking off a few couloirs a week, all in the resort, an hour or so hiking or skinning.
Most of them haven't been skied yet this winter.
I'm not complaining, the French love groomers.

As usual a couple mega deep days in the Bayrischer Alpen. about a meter and a half in the last three days. Yesterday was unskiable it was so deep. Today it settled out a bit and it skied so good, till the sun got it at least.

Had a fun few days in Ischgl this week, yesterday in particular. DEEP higher up but no vis whatsoever, but the trees had filled in just enough
Took today off as I'm still pretty beat by some virus that's been doing the rounds. Anyone else get any?

Verbier yesterday was fun. Not epic deep but good enough to cover most rocks.

Late April in Tirol, Austria. Resorts are closing and only the past month we had more snowfall than the rest of the season combined.. Good thing about late season pow is we had days with no one around. Surreal feeling. More snow is coming these days, only a few resorts are still open.
