Worst news ever. Never thought I would be this sad for a person I've never met in real life. The world of skiing and charging impossible lines will never be quite the same. Condolences to his family and all his close friends.
You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.

My stomach just sunk. Incredibly sad news and condolences to those that called Shane a friend and family. Almost 3 years ago to the day, we lost Doug ... and now this?

RIP shane. I remember the first time I sall him in jumping off a giant cliff thinking he was insane, but then he pulled out a shoot. I loved watching that.

I am so sad. It just doesn't seem real. Shane was larger than life and a true inspiration. I keep getting hit with waves of the reality and tears fill my eyes. I am so bummed...Shane you are the man.

So sad. I met him briefly at an event many years ago at the Harpoon Brewery in NH. Something about McConkey is one of my favorite ski movies- really brings out that irreverent, fun side of skiing.
Deepest condolences to his wife and family.

You truly fucking lived. Kudos for that. As free as anyone has ever been.
It doesn't make me less sick though.

devastated. just devastated. Probably more than any other Shane was the skier I looked up most when I was a kid, fuck, even to this day. I can't believe this news. The ski world lost one of its greatest today. Rest in peace Shane, and my most heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.

God grant that I may live to ski
For another shining day,
But when my final turn is made
I then most humbly pray,
When on your highest mountain top
with lines so soft and steep,
You'll smile at me and judge
That I hucked big enough to keep.
RIP Shane, best thoughts + wishes to family and friends.

Shane was certainly an inspiration for me, both in the sense that his skiing was a model to look up to and in the sense that he made it look like so much damn fun.
To Shane's family, oldtimer, huck, and any others who knew him personally, you have my sincere condolences. He seemed like a great guy and he touched a lot of peoples' lives who never had the pleasure of knowing him personally.

Most upsetting.
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For through from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
