I want the best of both worlds: a reverse reverse Rax.

But these are the Racks I'm most fond of:

So I've spent the last 4 years thinking this thread was some sort of joke without really reading it. Just now I've read through the whole thread and I realize that this guy is dead fucking serious? How can anyone possibly think that those things are a good idea?

Then again I saw someone at Bolton yesterday skiing pow on snowblades in jeans. He'd probably love to try some Rax. Maybe Tom should market at some sort of Jersey/New York ski convention or something....

"skiing pow on snowblades in jeans ?"- America is marvellous!
You can never see something like this in old Europe.

Let's be serious now. You mean, we should market RaxSki as an accessory to jeans?
Why not but I would prefer bikini

This thread is so hilarious I had to stop lurking and join in the fun :-)

Tom - a question for you. The thread implies that Rax is better than shaped carvers or fat powder skis, but I can't find a single picture or video of anyone skiing a nice groomer or deep pow. And in the video above, it actually took me a fair amount of time to realize that one of the Raxers was only wearing one Raxski. The naked boot on the other foot looked just as good (bad).
Do you have any pics/vids that show why we should consider Rax instead of carvers or fat pow skis?

This is just to announce a new ski for 2013.

RaxSki II is a fun carver with lateral fins ("wings").
Inclined "wings" at both sides of the ski boot carve deeper than any parabolic edge.

Those would be great for heart carving.

Coming to Chamonix this April? I'd love to have a go.

Just checked your website, you didn't post my comment from February of this year. I'm hurt.

Tom!!!! Great to hear from you.

So, is this new design strictly for ice and hard snow with those lateral fins (the look sharp!)? They don't look like they would float in the powder as well as your original design.

Oh, and what type of bindings are those? They look nice and light.

wait so did Rax give up on real bindings for the new models and actually just attach some nonsense to a set of snowblades?

I just discovered this thread and to be honest, it's amazing that there's a company out there serious about this.

Mind = blown. This thread delivers.

Well, SgtSkidmark, this is the PURE CARVE MACHINE engineered to minimize drifting and skidding on groomed pistes.
These "wings" or lateral fins can efficiently cut the snow surface. Unlike steel edges they are rather rounded and cannot cut the human skin.

Powder requires larger fins positioned at the ski tail, like a surfboard.

The snowblade on the pic was just the 1st prototype. You can attach lateral fins to normal skis or even extreme powder ones like that black one in the middle

No, I would be chasing them like a Norwegian hunter two hundred years ago. The very first appearance of a skier will make monkeys fall down from the trees.
