We're also sacrastic. Often, we're facetious. Sometimes, generous. But always praying for more snow. Of course, we're brutal sometimes. I'm thinking of something commonly attributed to Harry S. Truman, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."
You took a meringue and flattened it. Did you expect us to thank you for it? Or should we be flattered you wrote a piece of shit story about us in a piece of shit magazine for which you got paid shit?
If you were expecting some happy, homogenous mass ready to jump you came to the wrong place

Do you guys also keep talking after the phone has been hung up?

all kinds of good responses in this thread; the article's author did a beautiful job of capturing the essence of maggotdom.
Rob if you followed what has happened with "Plakespear" and this FAMILY community that should tell you all you need to know about your story.
For me this board is my FAMILY. It has been there for me in good times and in bad. When I was sick and needed just someone to talk to each day. It gave me hope in myself again. It showed me that I was acting like and asshole for a bit, and helped me learn from that dark time while showing me what a humble person truly is.
I would give my last breath and my last drop of blood for the people in this community. They were there for me when I needed them and I will always be there for when they need me.

I thought it was a good article - hopefully you learn to enjoy this place. Given your perspective on the sport as a writer, maggotodm is right up your alley...at least some of us.

Well...I thought it was a GREAT article. The observations made, the vibe conveyed, opinions expressed, I mean, even down to the people quoted.
It was, perhaps, the very best article regarding maggots I have ever seen in Skiing Magazine.
Rob, don't let these naysayers cloud your head. You are a longtime, ACTUAL writer for various sports mags. They are not.

Can anyone post the whole article here?

RS, thanks for doing the article! the whole thing was fun in a never-ending-soap-opera-sublot kind of way, but then if you expected anything less you wouldn't be writing a story about this place anyway, would you
visit during the summer, this place is really something to behold in august![]()

I though it was pretty good. I happened to find a copy of the mag sitting at my friends house and he couldn't understand why I wanted to read one article so damn much.
I found some new information on the possible origination of the term Maggot.
From Thomas Turiano's Teton Skiing A History and Guide to the Teton Range 1995 Moose Publishing
Page 44 "Grand Targhee's management coined the label 'mountain maggots' or 'snow maggots' for the nordic skiers that infiltrated Teton Valley during the 1970s."
Well, I can tell you with certainty that it evolved when someone asked what we were called if we all hung out at powdermag.com.
I believe it was Pinner who said Powdermaggots.
^^I thought it was you in the PMGear "Gotta be Poor to be Core" vid?
