TR: Plantation Trail, Canaan Valley WV

Ms Jaeger about to ride her first IMBA epic.

    Plantation Trail looked inviting...

... so what's a Mag to do but mach it?

A rare non-rocky, non-muddy section of Plantation Trail. If you're familiar with the North Shore in Vancouver, Plantation trail is similar to trails on the lower parts of Mt Seymour; not especially technically challenging, but with lots of slippery rocks and roots. The occasional bottomless mud hole did add an an element of surprise though.

The fall colors were really something.

I think you're all too familiar with the equation here:

elective month weekend + not backup = "let's hit the road!"

Some more Canaan Valley fall goodness from this weekend:

The photos can't capture just how cool it is to ride though the forest, completely immersed in color. I think every serious mountain biker owes it to themselves to do at least one fall epic on the EC.

I was just in WV riding for 2 weeks and the colors were amazing. Not to mention the sick DH at Snowshoe. Wish I would have made it up to Canaan. Forgot how fun it is to ride the trails in the fall. Rocks, roots, and lots of leaves make for a fun ride. Looks like you guys had fun. Nice TR.

hell yeah! love the 'almost heaven' wv highlands. sweet pics! check out some of the trails in Dolly Sods North sometime too. (below) nice single track and unreal scenery. a few semi technical rocky areas, but fun stuff.
