You should post the stats on that ride, the profile alone is crazy. Saw it on Strava earlier

Did the full Mag 7 yesterday. Low chance of rain and low accumulation turned into a nasty, windy, rainy mess right as we hit the climb part of goldbar. Definitely turned into type 2 fun for that portion. Sun came out for portal, which was nice. New ride thoroughly broken in now.

Need to do some research on what organization manages the trails out of City Creek/Gibson Jack/etc. They could use a bit more, erm, diversity. Don’t get me wrong, the network is sweet, but there is so much untapped potential. An enduro pig isn’t really the right tool for riding there, though even on a dedicated trail bike I think I’d be a bit bored.

Looking to string some longer ‘kick my ass in gear’ training rides together over the next few weeks. You should holler if you make it down.

Have you ridden the Slate Mountain loop yet? It has more chunk than City Creek for sure. Start at Gibson jack and go clockwise. Watch for moose.

Go forth and ride, then bring back pics

Got out on Saturday for a pretty good ride. From what I mapped out it ended up just north of 5300’ and 28mi. Rode from Upper City Creek to Gibson Jack via Sterling Justice. Then up Upper GJ, down GJ, and back over to city creek.

The up at GJ was pretty brutal. I knew there was going to be a lot of hike a bike with the remaining snow but wanted to get a read on how much longer we have until the trails are clear, and what better way to gather the data yourself.

Trails on the bench at City Creek are fully dried out

One of the snow crossings remaining on SJ. For those not in the know, a good portion of SJ is benched into fairly steep hillside. Some of the drifts here were closer to lingering snow fields and a slip would majorly suck

A couple shots of the scenery on the climb up Upper GJ… Probably 70% hike a bike on a 2000’ ascent = slog

No pics on the down, the first 3/4 mile was snow biking on 2.3s, followed by some perfectly tacky flowing single track back to the junction of GJ/SJ.

Cutting back across SJ as the sun was dipping below the ridge was beautiful

Thanks for the share. I still haven’t ever stopped to ride in Poky but I guess I should one of these days. How busy are the trails? Like can I ride with a dog and not have to stop and hold him while passing hikers every mile?
