    Absolutely mandatory, no possibility of rolling it. It is right on a public trail, kinda dick move by the builder not putting in any warning says. If it had said “DOUBLE BLACK DIAMOND” I would have sped up. I was actually going just fast enough to clean it, but my friend panicked and yelled “STOP!” uneccesarily, which I tried to do.

    Oh no. So sorry to hear. You've been getting stronger and stronger all year. Dang. Keep us posted what the orthopod says. Was the bike ok?

    +++Vibes+++ man. You'll heal up.

    As for the feature not being marked, that is a dick move. Seems like just about everything that is even a quasi-legit trail would have some kind of signage, if even only at the beginning (TH).

    Maybe this was a side route that was rouge?

    Yup, no question, I had my greatest cycling season in 35 years this year, so I am ok with it, I guess. I still have some big plans for next year, but more DH KOM’s and trophies are probably not happening!
    I was with a Texas friend. Bike was a rental, but it was fine.

    What makes it crazier is that I got a call from my surgeon Tuesday night because I had just had an MRI on my right knee, and it didn’t need surgery, but he recommended a knee replacement in a few years. THAT was the ‘good’ knee that I had to hop out a 10th of a mile on, and now Use with my crutches. And they only gave me 10 Tylenol 3’s.
    Fucking paranoid doctor bullshit, if anyone needed strong pain meds, I did.

    You should probably buy yourself a new bike anyway, just in case.

    Oh, yeah, it’s already at the shop, XTR bits are already in the shed, and the carbon wheels on a boat.

    No bueno. I tore my ACL last year. 4 months from date of surgery til I was cleared to ride trails (with brace) and 3 more for unrestricted activity without brace. The good news is biking is good for recovery but it will be pretty laid back pedalling for a while.

    Well, I did 95 days on the rollers between Christmas and April last year, so maybe I have beaten myself into submission already.

    Holy crap, if you wanna get in shape quick, just strap 30 lbs to your handlebars and just go for short rides around the small neighborhood hills. Even just going up my driveway left me breathless!
    For the record, she had a lot of fun once we got going at a decent speed. She was just emotionless when we were completely stopped. At least that's what I'm telling the wife!

    (first round-the-neighborhood pavement shakedown ride of the bike setup with my daughter on it ... next step is to take it off road, on mellow flattish stuff of course)

    OK, so the prognosis is fairly grim. Blew out ACL, MCL, PCL, and I have a contusion/fracture on the top of my Fibia. I have to let the Meniscus heal (~6 weeks), and then I am getting a total knee replacement on January 27th. The good news (according to the doc) is that I’ll still be able to charge as a cyclist (but likely my days of getting dh Strava trophies are over).
    The worst parts are the timing (will have to pay for this early next year, our deductible will be 10k before insurance kicks in at 50%). Also, I have a México Mt. Bike/surf trip all planned and paid for March 20th, not sure what the hell will happen with that.
    He took one look at the results and immediately prescribed 50 Oxy, so I got that going for me....
    And I get to buy a Wahoo Kickr and join Zwift, lucky me!
