The snows literally too deep/soft here. I had to ride plowed roads yesterday.

Palm Canyon with exit via Art Smith, last weekend

Had just rained the day or two before so dirt was awesome.

Saw zero other riders which is unheard of in these conditions. Passed three hikers in Palm Canyon and a few more at bottom of Art Smith

Cool palm trees on Art Smith some of which burned a few years ago

Even the groomers are little soft, with all the new snow.

Did an overnight bikepack using the AZT and some jeep roads this past weekend. I'll get around to writing up a mini-TR but for now here are a couple stoke pics

rode trail 100 in PMP for the first time today. kicked my ass in the beginning with two tough climbs before I was warmed up, once through the first section it was flowy single/double track with some more moderate climbs and fast techy descents. pretty fun and very close to my place.

still many stretches that would give the illusion that you're in the middle of nowhere

starting early was key, because by the time I got back to the trailhead the place was packed with hikers, but Pivot was there there with damn near their whole fleet for a demo day. an awesome surprise considering I'm riding a 2007 Kona.

first got out on a firebird 29er. for a semi long travel bike it was a dream on the up, though was a bit weird feeling to me on the downhills. felt like I had a ton of wheel behind me so rolling drops and manuals were funky

next rode the mach 6, I'm guessing carbon version, and fell in love. the geometry felt way better to me, absolutely crushed the downhills over very rough terrain while still performing fine going up (I rode the exact same loop on both bikes)

testing these may have ruined the experience of riding my old coiler, having a perfectly dialed suspension and and flawless drivetrain are two things I've been missing for a while. both bikes were stupid easy to pedal uphill, it was like cheating. and the dropper post, don't even get me started... I need a new bike

Is that the spray paint finish you were asking about in another thread? How'd it turn out? Looks sharp in the pics.

Yep. I'm really happy with how it turned out, looks killer. Pretty much everything worked as advertised--no dripping or running, one can easily did one coat with paint to spare, even with only one coat down there was no sign of the high-contrast areas of the original paint (though I did two coats anyway), and all the overspray was a completely dry powder that was easily swept or vacummed up which made cleanup a breeze.

The color was a bit dull at first, but after you do the dry cloth buffing they call for it looks much better. So much so that it gave me the idea to buff it again with some super fine 0000 steel wool after it had fully cured. That really made the color pop.
