Ride to Elliot Knob in GWNF. The loop requires 15+ miles of road, so I crammed the climbing into an out and back. Great ride, mediocre pics.

Looking west toward the Shenandoah Mountain Trail and the start of the Southern Traverse to the North a bit. WV is back there somewhere.

Mid 40’s, cloudy, and windy in Acadia. Felt more like Fall than Spring, but no crowds yet. One from the top of the Mountain and one from the bottom.

Late ‘80s to mid ‘90s were the best for mtb. Trails were never crowded and it was easy to poach closed trails in Marin and the Wilderness. No one was out there.

Found some fun singletrack just south of Butte MT. CDT always delivers. No pics from the next two days north and south off Homestake Pass, then managed to tick off 21.5 miles at Copper City before it stormed. Hot tip is the Gravel Bar in Ennis MT https://gravelbarmt.com/

We usually head south this time of year, but Montana was the right choice last week.

Maybe so, but those bikes sucked soo badly. Brakes especially!! Definitely having more fun on the modern equipment and even trails are generally better as well and I don’t mean all flow trails. Or at least in my riding areas VA/MD/PA mostly

Yeah, gear and trails have come a real long way since the 90's. I definitely miss the quiet, crowd free west of that time but not for the riding.

If anything else, I miss the excitement and stoke I had back then. The mid to late 90's were a super fun time to be skiing and pushing your limits on the fatter skis that started to be produced. Then there was that freeride and dh explosion with mountain biking, that was really fun to explore for a while too.

Now I feel old and everything is basically a repeat. It's like watching movies or tv shows where you immediately know what the story is, where it's going and how it's going to end. Ground Hog Day and shit. Trail building and desert wandering still gives me new challenges and something to look forward to at least.

I don't know what that is but it may go for a good price on ebay if it's a worthy collectors bike.

Also, no crowds over here. Last year things got kinda busy, but far from crowded. Seems people are back at work or over it because trails are empty again.

Buck Mountain in the Methow. There’s other great rides in the area but the rip down the brush-covered ridge line and the expansive views make this one of my favorites. Click image for larger version.
