Go forth and ride, then bring back pics
Spokane was off the chain today. 50* - no freeze in 48H - with loads of wind to suck out the excess water.
Felt good to be riding le petite gnar again!

Dropped my dad off to try skydiving on the SW side of Vegas and took it as an opportunity to ride some places I rarely go while I waited for him. Turned out that my van was not up to the access road, so I basically road 4 miles in on a dirt road, half a mile on the single track I was aiming for, then 4 dirt road miles back out. Still, it was kind of fun riding through a Joshua Tree forest and it would be a good place to start a pretty epic ride from Good Springs to Summerlin, which is probably 20-25 miles in straight line distance and can be done basically entirely on singletrack (after that access road). I imagine it would be maybe twice that actual riding distance depending on your route.

Big storm few states north of us, but somehow was high of 68 today in PA. Rides ensued…
Aborted lunch ride after 1/4 mile, nearly didn’t stop horses and a few other riders. Not quite dry enough after morning shower.
DJ session w my daughter after school/work
Solo rip on hero dirt at one of my local spots, followed by margaritas and tacos for dinner

Chester County outside Philly. Haven't ridden much on western side of the state, but Eastern and Central PA have some incredible trail systems. Even in my area we have a few hundred miles of trails w/in 45 minutes.
I'd put Rothrock around State College up there in some top notch trails, not too far off the Virginia and NC trail systems.

Very cool. I've actually ridden very little in PA, save in Pittsburgh which has a really good urban trail system, as I didn't really get into it until after I moved away. The area north of State College - basically north of I-80 from DuBois to Lock Haven or Williamsport - is where I've often imagined a great trail system. You have a plateau that is just crisscrossed with all these drainages producing some really interesting topography and up to ~1000 ft drops from the top to the bottom. They've done a good bit with tourism - mostly hunting and looking at elk - but I'd love to see them get some bike stuff going, though it might be too far unless it reached real destination levels.

Learn something new everyday... I'm originally from PA and had no idea that there are elk in the state.

Yep. They reintroduced them in the early 1900s I think, but they only survived as a herd in the northcentral part of the state, mostly Elk and Cambria counties. They're cool to see.

There are definitely trails up in/around Williamsburg. There’s a race promoter that lives up that way. He runs several big gravel events mostly, but he’s a mountain biker and has some pretty good loops per socials. There just aren’t enough people up that way to build trails and my guess is the locals would be pretty resistant despite the needed revenue up there.

Yeah, I wish I had seen someone ride it. Just above are more airs that flow into the berm (pic) to tree hip. Then the next feature is the big gap...pic. Relatively new stuff in the SC area.
My mind is in winter mode and forgot to do a tick check and sure enough...fucker. Mtn bikers should be able to write their own Doxycycline script!

This zone is pretty new and this trail in particular looked very new. This is Santa Cruz county, so quite a few of the builders and riders are very good if not pro level.
And to answer your other question, you have a ton of speed coming into that berm before the tree hip...possibly too much. There is a couple small airs before that and its all Down, so you're cruising. Me? I'm setting my brake pads on fire!

Some good stuff being posted in this thread!
RaisingArizona, if that type of stuff is your jam, you really have to get up to Bootleg sometime.
