Headed to Durango for a week. Any recs on epic rides? We're definitely doing Molas > Engineer (hopefully all the way down to Hermosa) and I'm intrigued by Boulder Gulch but I'm not sure my girlfriend will be. Open to anything & everything in the San Juans!
One more pic of pnut shredding a stealth trail in the batholith!

Boulder gulch is a rad descent. Gets steep and loose at the bottom for quite a ways. The worst part aside from the brutal hike a bike to get to it is 6 miles on the alpine loop breathing dust from 80,000 side by sides who don't have the social awareness to slow down when passing bikes. The HAB itself is on BLM land in wilderness study area and bike wheels are not supposed to touch the ground. So technically it is a bike carry all the way up, on 40* slopes. Carrying or not, it is probably the toughest hike a bike I've done.
For Molas-Engineer continue past the Engineer turnoff over Rolling pass, and drop down to White Creek and take that back around to Engineer. You get awesome descent off Rolling Pass and White is pretty fun. Just a short steep HAB to begin with.
Up Pass Creek, across Engineer, down Engine Creek
Descend Graysill. No easy way to get to it, but its worth it. Up Bolam pass or Cascade Divide Rd, or CT from Molas, or up Pass Creek/Whites etc.
Up Bolam Pass Rd, Colorado Trail, down Stagecoach
On the Rico side, arrange a shuttle and ride Calico Trail N to S. Its as good or better than the CT far as I'm concerned. You can do it as a loop on the north end and a loop on the south end if you can't shuttle. Look up my past TR's
If trees are turning, Calico to Eagle to Stoner Mesa is awesome.
Up Scotch Creek Rd, CT and down Salt Creek. Steep parts of upper Ryman is getting re-routed right now, might be climbable to get to Salt once done.

Forest Service is temporarily closing all National Forests in California starting midnight tonight, so I went for a final ride for a while this afternoon.

14 mile road ride in. Mostly ok pushed one hill that was pretty churned up by OHV use. We did not ride the trail in as were not sure of conditions and wilderness. Met a guy who had hiked in. He said the trail was rideable. I think he caught a ride out with the guy with the new Bronco. We rode the trail out. 7 miles, less vert than the road. The trail was fine got off a couple of times for some chunk but a more aggressive rider would have no problems. 21.5 mile loop around 2300vt. Better bike rides around but a good way to check out Wheeler.

Thanks. Such a cool area. Wish we had time for a few more rides. Definitely stoked to explore more down there in the future
