4th annual oktobershred at the cottage grove bike park
rain pushed back the date, and then cut things short anyway, only got through the pump track races, but fun was still had
setting up shop
teaching future groms
chainsaw carving!
this one will be displayed at park entrance when completed, so rad
pump track races
big thanks for the donated trophies, they were a huge hit
while i was busy trying to keep shit running on track some of the boys did get some time to play on the djs/slope
rain hit in the afternoon and shut down the fun but still plenty of smiles

Did the Wrightwood 50 on Saturday. Fun course on trails most Socal riders don't even know exist. Mostly by taking fewer and shorter rest stops I cut a full 1.5 hours off last years time but still captured the coveted DFL.
After dinner I started out to do some recon for a bikepack route I'm putting together and managed to get the truck stuck in deep sand crossing a wash. Exactly what I want to be doing after a 50 miler is dig the truck out Had to jack it up, dig out the sand and place rocks to make a solid path out. Was a 2 beer job. Called it a night after that and found the closest flat spot off the road to camp.
Went back the next morning to ride that and another road that was gated. Some great views. The gated road is a winner for bikepacking route. The road with the death was became impassable to vehicles a mile further with massive ruts and washouts.

Great pics, Ev. I spent a lot of time around wrightwood (and baldy) growing up, but never thought of it for mtn biking. Gonna have to add it to the destination list.

Digging the truck out after a 50 miler sounds pretty damn shitty!

Took this photo in North/West Truckee about 5 minutes before one of my all-time worst MTB crashes. Lots of rain and hero dirt this summer but things have dried out a lot in the last few weeks and the dirt turned to moon dust quicker than expected. Washed out through a berm and tumbled over some rocks... lots of scrapes and bruises... whiplash and bruised ribs. Barely made it home unassisted as the sun was setting. Ugh. Love to push it and go fast but man this sucks...
But on the lighter side here’s an exchange with my main riding buddy... haha, he’s got his priorities straight.

Ha, he could probably use it for the next week or two. Being hurt sucks. Just put a pike on that thing and was loving it.

Sacrificed the body for the steed. A noble tuck n roll

Honestly, the bruises and cuts are no big deal (I suspect many of us have those consistently from April - November) it’s my damn neck that sucks. Didn’t even feel it until the next morning. Oh well, heal up and get back on the saddle.

Sounds familiar, J. Had my worst yet almost 4 weeks ago, crushed the air from my right lung and had to keep the wheels on the ground all weekend in Moab two weeks later. Lucky for me the only thing more fun than Moab with banged up ribs is Moab without banged up ribs.

Off the grid this weekend hanging with the family. Got in more plinking than riding, but still got out for a ride with the kids.
Opening season this weekend (hence the orange). Made me happy about the color choice of my new CFS jacket!
Gaper gap
It was fun introducing the 5yo to shooting the .22, but hard to explain what he should be looking for through the sights. Tried to use this as an example...

Nothing but the finest brews for you Wonder if we saw you on the trails, there weren't many people out so... maybe. We had a hoot doing the coronary/coronary bypass loop. It's so nice when I get to ride with both of my daughters, doesn't happen often enough that it's just the three of us.
