Yeah, people have died. There’s 2 spots where the trail is really narrow and they have signs suggesting you get off and walk.

Me too. It doesn't bother me nearly as much on skis as it does on a bike. I think in general a lot of mountain-bikers are too blase about exposure. Even parts of the super mellow and boring Flume trail in Tahoe freak me out a little... mostly when passing people in the other direction.

I'm sure some locals ride it clean multiple times a year like it's no big deal, is my guess. Apparently I rode it in the 90s, I couldn't remember for sure but a friend brought it up a few months ago. I think I put a foot down somewhere though, 90s are a bit hazy for me. The super exposed parts used to be more sketchy though. I don't brag about this with others, most people would call me stupid rather than be impressed.

I'm sure quite a few people do it. I don't. At least not in those 2 spots. I'm not too proud to get off and walk. That's high risk for no reward. The rest of the trail is really fun though. It doesn't feel as exposed as it looks in the video.

Yeah when I think back to the early Moab adventures before suspension and we were all riding rigid...

Blue square riding in Moab today. Minimal exposure and room to rip. Ran into old friend in parking lot. They're skiing powder back home but I needed more red rock.

I had a coworker that died on Poison Spider probably 15(?) years ago. I have no interest in that kind of exposure.

It's not so bad in person.
I've not ridden the two worst spots, have always walked them in the dozen or so times I've ridden Portal.
Tempting, because the actual trail bits looks very, very easy. It's just that they are so exposed, there is just no room for error. A stupid bobble in one of those spots and you're done. Nothing to grab onto or slide or break your fall with. Pancake.
The rest of the trail is so damn fun, it's worth being a little cautious there.
Heh. Is very different now - first time was 1999 on a 4" forked hardtail. Last time was on a 6"+ travel front and rear bike. I walked much of it that first time, and cleaned nearly all of it the last time.Florence Nightingale's Stormtrooper

There's lots of ruins out there that I didn't get to since daylight was fading. Super scenic for sure. The actual riding isn't amazing, but totally decent desert XC with solid techy challenges and some fun descending sections. Definitely worth checking out.
Stopped in Moab on the way home yesterday.
