Took advantage of a relatively smoke free day on Saturday for another road spin. #backroadsofmontana

Good times in steamboat. Up flash of gold and down grouse. Grouse has some rowdy sections!no pics of the chunk but kudos to the folks that can just do it all.
Evdog that is impressive. Did you ever want to just stop and chill? I've done the Silverton to Durango part and want to do the whole thing but I think I would give myself a day off somewhere to smell the roses.
    Happy trails all

Nice! We did it Sunday. And yeah, one of my favorites - probably some of my favorite sections of alpine 7.

Found a massive black berry patch yesterday while looking for somewhere to swim after my ride. Had to go back today and fill up a big container.

Smooth, very fast and in really good shape considering the way summer is going.

We got out Sunday with a few friends for a Mac Pass shuttle followed by grilling alongside the creek. I meant to take a bunch of photos but somehow only took one of the easier rock gardens. Only 3 trees down since clearing hundreds last June, and we got those.

It’s my favorite local ride by a wide margin. This is the easiest of the rocky climbs- most of them have basketball sized rocks all through them. Three miles of this and a mile+ of a slogging climb gets you 2,000 feet of old-school loose and rocky downhill.

Thanks! I find I stop often for short breaks but not long ones aside from sleep or meals. I find my tiredness masks the pain so if I stopped for a day I probably wouldnt get going again. Lots of times I want to lay down in the shade and take a nap but mosquitos keep me moving.

Honestly a big part of why I often keep moving is to set myself up for whatever is coming the following day, like finishing a climb so I wont have to deal with it in the morning or setting up to get over a high pass in the morning before storms hit. Or I was just feeling good and wanted to keep going. Other times I didn't so I would stop for the night. When it's colder out like in CO I tend to ride less at night. I rode deep into the night a lot on the AZT desert sections when temps are hot in daytime but perfect at night.

The thing I love about bikepacking is you have all your gear so you have freedom to ride as long as you want or stop when you want. You can do a ride like the CT any way you want. Met a few riders doing 30mi/ day. No right or wrong, just might take longer.

That machine has to be tempting. After a couple weeks of healing my torn ac joint last year i managed to ride through recovery, albeit cautiously

13 or 14 years young and still clocking miles. Not that many and not very fast but rode some of the middle fork of the Willamette trail today then went for a swim.
