Great views and great company!!
Great day out with @Jackattack @LVS and @Steveski in Wenatchee!
Does it even count if we don’t salute the mags? FKNA!

People avoidance, an unusually long spring/cool weather/slow growth of briars and weeds, a flexible work schedule, and let's be honest, age, have pushed my adventure riding this season. Checked one off the list I've been considering for a while.
https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/169...erse-imba-epic
Farm start, Shenandoah Mountain in the distance.
Forest road grind to get to the ridge.
High And County
Off the road, onto the ridge.
Views were spectacular, but never fully unobstructed. IMBA doesn't believe in lookouts. Looking west into WV.
Rolling into the final descent.
Which drops into a long road ride back to the truck. I took some pics, but nothing worth sharing. Back at the beginning, looking back at Great North Mountain, Shenandoah Mountain behind me.
I give it a 3/5. Solid backcountry ridge ride. Not very technical and not very steep, but great views and a solid DH to finish. Roads are a given here if you want a big loop, but this was a lot of road, a lot of which was hardtop (albeit empty). If you live near here or ride here a lot, this is a decent list-checker, but I wouldn't consider it a destination ride given the destination. There are so many better rides in the area with better climbs, way better descents, and the potential to get as epic as you want.Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Bagtagley - good stuff. When this silliness lifts hoping to sneak back down to GWNF. Been years for me in the Harrisonburg area, but now know a bunch of PA transplants down there.
Mostly keep going down to Roanoke and Blacksburg (alma mater). If you’re down that way Carvins Cove is excellent if you haven’t been, also North Mountain/Dragons Back is a great ride and a more technical backcountry ridge ride from what yours was I think.
Also my 6 y/o is getting pretty comfortable riding our local trails, bike upgrade in short order for her.

Love Carvins! Probably my best day last year was at the Cove lapping OG. Unfortunately, Carvins and Mountain Lake are the extent of my riding down there. There’s a ton of stuff I want to check out, but the extra two hours round trip (vs GWNF/Stokesville) and the insanity that is 81 have kept me from exploring as much as I’d like to.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Headed up to the mountains to ride on Sunday. This trail system was just opening up in 2018 after a fire in 2013 when it burned again. Pretty much everything that didn't burn the first time went up in the second fire. Fire closure was not extended at the end of 2019 so locals are starting to re-open trails again. Lots do not exist on the ground anymore. But there is a few hours worth of riding.
Starting just outside the burn area on some nice forested trail
Southridge Tr did not used to have views. Looking down at Garner Valley
A few trails at the top of the system are open. Raw and hard to follow in places but clear of obstructions. Needs more traffic
But watch out for ruts
A few trees survived. Looking up at San Jacinto mountains
Johnson Meadow
Hurkey Creek was flowing. Stopped for a soak to cool down
Did a second late afternoon ride closer to Idyllwild
I always seem to ride this trail at sunset. Perfect ending to the day!

Crazy, after my freshman year in college I played baseball in the Valley League, and lived in New Market for three months. Of course it was different back in the late 90's, but it's crazy how many trails are in that area. I'd love to come back sometime to ride for a few days. I follow J Bishop on Strava and he puts together some insane routes based out of Harrisonburg!

It's super dry here now, but the crowds seem to have diminished a little. More trails are opening, and maybe people are going back to work. In any case, I'll take it.
