Go forth and ride, then bring back pics

That sign is amazing. Always an exclamation point for a fun secret trail.

I got ejected from the main line on NCS last night and my light tri-podding was punished by my toe catching that log; simultaneously pulling me off the back of the bike and pulling out of the ground at the same time. It all kinda happened in slow motion. There was a John Phillips Souza tune playing the background. It was quite a moment.

    ^^Awesome kid stoke.

Had the Mt. Helena ridge to myself this afternoon but ducked down Emmitt's Trail when the lightning approached a little too close for comfort. Fun descent.

Nice to see you getting out yeahman, you must have found a bike! This rain has been keeping the trails nice and tacky, but lightning off the ridge = no fun!

I did find a bike on Craigslist, been getting out a lot in between downpours. Considering a trip to the Highwood Mountains, ever biked there? That old Montana Singletrack book has a couple rides there and it sounds really cool and empty. Nothing shown on Trailforks though, which is odd.

I have not been to the Highwood Mountains. Haven't done much biking in MT outside of areas within short striking distance from Helena since moving here, which is unfortunate. I'm fixing to change that once my ex-wife quits spending all summer in the field across various states while I watch the dog and take care of the gardens, house, etc, ha. Vet told us our dog was done for last Fall, but she's a scrapper apparently and still going (and I'm glad for it).

Most of my exploration off the beaten path has been in SE Idaho. My daughters grew up in SW Utah so was fortunate enough to spend a fair amount of time there too.

About 1/4 mile into CT in Danbury. This spot has somewhere near 20 miles of trails, unfortunately only about 4 is legal but the rest is on unpatrolled private land and things appear to be copacetic for now so it has become incredibly popular. The trails are fantastic and worth the time spent to get to them and ride. Let me know when you're headed this way and I'll help you get set up with a bike and show you around (if you're close to me). There are so many underutilized and underrated trails in the lower Hudson Valley it's amazing.

Awesome, may fly in for a quick 4 day trip in September... will hit you up if I'm sans family, which is possible.

Yup - we rode everything at bootleg. Mostly shuttled, but we pedalled a bit too. Great trails; a bit of everything.

Sweet! Trails look fun. Kimberly is a great little town, i was just there with my kids for a week but we didn't have bikes with us that trip.
