Huh, I never thought of hike-a-biking up Hidden to the Moab Rim DH. Just hiked Hidden with the dogs on off-days. That would be a unique loop.

If I did it as a loop again I'd do Pipedream first. That kicked my ass at the end of the ride, but made sense based on where we were staying. Or skip the Jacksons side loop.

Hidden Valley goes through a Wilderness Study Area but bikes are specifically allowed, so take advantage... Would never want to climb up Moab Rim. Anyone ridden the singletrack that parallels the jeep road descent? Says no bikes but looked fun.
I did this loop CCW the other week. Started at the bottom of Pipe Dream (trail is WAY better northbound), rode out KK road, up Moab RIm, Hidden, down Barney Rubble, Pipe Dream. It was different, probably wouldn't do it again unless Barney Rubble gets more rideable. The advantages of doing the ride CCW are: Moab Rim is 99% rideable as a climb, steep as fuck though. I rode 95% of it until I was just too gassed and walked the very last pitch. Finishing on Pipe Dream northbound is way better. Pipe Dream southbound is cool but really hard IMO so only worth doing it that way as an out and back so you get to ride down it after. Moab Rim as a DH seems like it would be boring to me, just straight down slickrock, steep as balls, riding the brakes the whole way. Barney Rubble is a bitch either way though. I prolly only rode a little better than 50% of it and so much on/off the bike that it got annoying. JohnGchrist rode about 90% of it though, and our third guy rode zero, ha. With some rock stacking, that could be a sick DH. It's a hiking trail so I don't think anyone would mind but who knows. Going up it would definitely be 100% HAB.

Been taking the geriatric pup up here. Running out of time though with snake season approaching.

How do you like the Primer? Another good ride from top of Mag7 is down Chisholm, then CW around Navajo Rocks to the east-most trailhead.

So these are from last weekend....

Headed up to Idyllwild for a couple days. HUB system late afternoon Saturday. Found some trails I hadn't been on before...

    Awesome views up there

And then the craziest lighting I've seen after sunset. No filters here...

Next day I rode Hurkey Creek, which used to be the place to ride until a fire wiped out a lot of the system. The Forest Service ended the closure order in the last year and locals are starting to get the trails going again.

    Gorgeous place...

Came across this fat Pacific Southern daring me to pass him

    Pano

I climbed all the way up to the top of the trail system and then all the way back, hitting a bunch of side trails on the way

    Big nuts

    Water in Socal

A few trees down in here

    Giant yucca

Forgot how much fun the place was, great mix of buff forest singletrack and tech granite

I really dig it. I demo’d 4 other bikes this year but the primer felt best for how I ride. I didn’t think I’d ever want a 29er, but I’m definitely a convert.

The Cove Bikes Hummer. A ti 29er hardtail with modern geometry. Now playing at Cove Bikes.

CBuster trail with Chaz. CBuster was originally built by Cove staff in late 80s

I have shots at the top. I have shots the bottom. I keep missing with the timer of a shot in the middle. It's really not as bad though as it looks. That angle makes it look uglier. I'm also coming down the easy part of it!`
