Man I could sure use more Moab in my life. Thanks for the reminder Dantheman.

The top of Mag 7 trails were absolute nuts both days but it's so hard NOT to love it there. It's crowded for good reason. Sam was passing so many grownups it was silly. We were with Dan's Dad who is an avid trail runner and biker and he was trying hard to keep behind him on Getaway
And so fun to be passing by a group and have someone say, "Is that Samtheman?!" Great to meet you JohnO
Good thing we have a lot of patience and are willing to go out and about to find some good camping. It was out of the way and needed a high clearance car but it was 110% worth the hour long search. That's the way to do Moab now. We saw two other people out camping where we were all weekend.
Exploring right near camp.

Last wknd the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition held it's 21st Mtn Bike Festival.
Base camp: Stokesville, VA.
Riding was spectacular, Saturday 'Fatty' totaled out to 44ishmile, 6+k of vertical, three pretty special descents and plenty of mind numbing fall colors thru that neck of the GW. Finally took the risk and the old reliable Nikon 5100 w/ the 35/1.8 lens snuggles into the camelback quite nicely...Sunday was a lower-key detox spin of dealing with compromised reflexes after the late night dance party, but the colors were still nice.

Up in Canada for the holiday weekend. Brought the cx bike
The mountains. so close, but so far
The river valley has some parks and trails
That little park down there has some hiking and horse trails that turned out to be pretty fun on a cross bike
I guess that's my default bike photo angle/composition
The other option is a lot of straight and flat roads. With big tires you open up a few more options, but you had better hope it isn't windy
I ran into a guy down in the river valley and he was like "woah, a cross bike! no one rides those around here." Which is strange because there is a ton of dirt and gravel and river bottom trails that are fairly mellow. If you want to really go mtb riding you need to go to crowsnest pass, fernie, canmore, etc. if you want to road ride, it's not very exciting. And windy.
Also there is a big bridge

Wow tomicogs those colours are incredible. We only get green, yellow and brown up in the rockies. Haha

As one of those grownups I'm just going to say I felt a little better after my wife related that Samtheman had told her he was 7 And a Half! Chasing you guys down (be it ever so briefly!) will be a story a certain nephew of mine won't believe in a few years, I expect. Very cool to see you internet celebrities out tearing it up IRL!
Couple shots from the weekend in Moab. Did the Outerbike thing first. Mag 7 on Bullrun:
Random trail shot--somewhere in the distance Samtheman powers up a big step and cruises off to find something challenging:
Finished the "weekend" today by shuttling Horsethief to Navajo Rocks with new friends from Canada who seem about as addicted to Utah rock as we are:
Can't get enough of this place.

Almost criminal I haven't been to Moab. Nice mix in here from east coast colors to Moab desert/rock. Sweet shirt Dan.
Best dirt of the year on the new trail

Hit the Ogden bike park on Saturday. Those guys have done some great work up there.
There's a ~40 ft tabletop in the background that is super fun, and a bunch of nice jump lines higher up that finish down here at the money booters.
^^if you scale that up to an average adult size that's equivalent to about a 50footer. He has a lot going on before the lip too. I'd be focused on the lip, he's chatting , pedalling up until a couple feet before send mode. "Meh let's hit this shit"
