Changing Seasons (SNOW)
As I do several times each year, I backpack in the Enchantment Lake area above Leavenworth in Washington State. It is one of the most popular areas to hike in the U.S., and permits (required) for the entire year are usually sold out every Jan. It is worth it, and one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, (Look up enchantment lakes on web). Backpacked in for last time of the season on, out again Sunday. Friday it snowed a couple inches in the late afternoon and then cleared up - 25 degrees Friday night, Saturday was wonderful, Saturday night early Sunday snowed maybe 6 more inches, quiet, white, pristine, breath-taking hike out. If you live around here and have never been to the Enchantment lake wilderness area for a short or longer backpacking trip, you owe it to yourself. Life is good!
