No, no, that's crazy. I mean, yes, I'll watch it more than once, but the first viewing of the year is special. You have to respect that.

Let's say you watched it mid-season last season...is this really the first viewing of the year? Maybe the first viewing of the new season but not year.

Give in. Watch it now and with your kid. You can refresh on the movie quotes so you'll seem extra cool the second viewing.

Why Aspen Extreme saved my life.

I just read back....I responded to this thread in 2007...like 10 years before I finally moved to Aspen (well...17 miles from the Silver Queen as a family of four and two dogs wouldn’t do well in a studio).

Bought the movie on iTunes a couple seasons ago...already watched twice since the first storm before Halloween. Still gets the blood going for the season. Buying season passes and AEX.....mmmmm

“TJ, you son of a bitch”

    The full script...

Why Aspen Extreme saved my life.

Schmitt and Coombs were the most famous, but most of the skiing footage in the film was actually Scotty Nichols.

My wife went and got pregnant in April of 93, potentially screwing up my early season in 94. So I went to Las Lenas with Scotty in September of 93.
She was actually OK with the whole idea!

Fast forward to January 94 and my wife was in labor in a private maternity room.
We were watching AEX while she was getting close to birth. Doctor came in to prep and we all started to watch it together.

I start to ID the skiers in each segment and the doctor’s,”how can you tell who’s, who?”
If you ski with them enough, you know.

Wife finally had enough, “turn that thing off, we have work to do.”

Annual AEX viewing is always after Thanksgiving dinner accompanied with a few late night cocktails. Always a great watch.

It's almost time for annual viewing. Might be even more important timing than "The Turn."

So, Aspen Extreme check in. Who's watched it so far this season? I think I'm going to try to hold out till Thanksgiving when my college student comes back, but it's hard to wait...
Yes. I also live close to one of the railroad cars here in Woody Creek.

I have yet to watch, but it's an annual thing for me, usually around this time of year. I remember back in college when a girlfriend tracked down a DVD copy, which at the time, was about the only option since this was before iTunes, Prime, and other purchase options.

FYI this movie is available to stream for free via Hoopla, which my local library card gets me access to.

Yes, once 1A opens I’ll set up a maggot meet and greet at Shadow Mountain’s deck.

I was back on the Rio Grande today and probably the rest of this week.

A couple months ago I pulled out the old dvd and then had to dig up a disc drive in with the ye olde electronique pile in the closet so I could get this scene online for BMIlls and I to reference. YOU Steve?

Had to fast forward past some of the most cringeworthy scenes though. ahh the 90's
