Dude before us had painted the back deck. Spent about a month off and on scraping and sanding like a mother. Got it all cleaned off and added a stain a sealer. Also picked up this solid teak patio set at an estate sale for a steal! Stoked how it turned out. Still some touch up painting to do around edges and spindles...but first....a beer!ROLL TIDE ROLL

That came out nice. Scraping/sanding a deck is one of my least favorite things to do.

I have been working on our new house for the last year and we have been living in it for two weeks now. I did sub out the foundation, roof (standing seam), and dense-pack cellulose installation. Everything else, including cutting the timber frame, I did myself with the wife's help, though I did have some help from friends.
About 60% of the wood came from our property, some for TF parts, rough sawn framing, hickory floor, and 95% of material for finish work.
It is about 1000 sq. ft. (excluding walk out basement), passive solar, super-insulated (r-60), actively ventilated (ultimate air erv) and is an incredible space to live in. There is still lots more to do but that will never end. Here are a few photos from the past year.

Damn General, nice work!
Question about the framing. Did you infill the timber frame with 2x4 walls, then OSB on the outside of that, then TJIs for insulation space?

Essentially yes. Because we sawed most of the framing material on site (hemlock) we made a bunch of rough sawn 2x3s to frame the infill wall between the posts. Then OSB (we treated it as an air barrier in walls) on infill wall framing, outside of timber frame, with all seams taped with SIGA Tape (awesome stuff!). TJIs (12"on walls, 16"on roof) outside of OSB and fastened to timber frame and framing to create cavities for the dense pack.

For Truckee North Tahoe folks who like to make stuff and lack space--check out the maker space that will be opening sooner at the Truckee airport. Woodworking, metal working, ceramics, textiles.

Nice, Tuckerman. Did Dunfee draw the plans for it?
