I feel bad for Zartagen, he got no love and the thread died for 4 months. Nice work Zartagen, seriously.
Thanks, iceman. I guess that's what happens when I build shit in the "off" season for building shit.

After 5 years in my house, we finally cleaned out the storage closet next to the carport, which I intend to gradually re-purpose into a workshop.

First step was to build a workbench. Here's the result after spending half a sunday throwing it together.

Since this picture was taken I've added workbench casters that I got on sale at Rockler and added small shelves on the ends. Eventually, I'll add a cheap woodworkers bench vise, a hardboard top, some holes for bench dogs, maybe a drawer or two, maybe set in a t-track to quickly anchor things, etc. But for now it serves its purpose. I can do simple tasks, like tune skis with the bench inside the storage closet and I can wheel it out to the carport along with my tools when I'm working on bigger projects.

The next step was to build a simple ski tuning jig. I clamp it to the bench when I need it and hang it on the wall when not in use. I thought that by having the ski supports on hinges that I could save a little room in my tight work area but ultimately it only reduces the bulk of the thing by a couple inches and wasn't worth it.

I have a couple of furniture projects queued up for the summer, so hopefully I'll have more to post throughout the summer.

Nice work. I like the brake tie-down, that's a clever touch.

Yeah, I was worried that it wouldn't be solid without rigging something to lock the ski supports in the up position but by adding an old bike tube for grip and then just cinching the brakes down it's rock solid. It's just a screw on one side of the board and a small cleat on the other side with a piece of para-chord strung between.

Oh the humanity! That's a nice quiver of kick ass bump skis there. Were they all really done before you destroyed them for that travesty??

Yup, had three comp bump skiers in the house at one time and you would be amazed how much abuse they can put on a ski. Pick your poison, decambered, bent, broken, cracked edges, generally abused or kid sized. Some were given to me. I have been hoarding the discards for over a decade with this bench in mind.

Glad you like the lineup. I think the fancy term is curated. Lots of memories in that seat.

OK, not just me but me, divegirl, and her dad (who is a retired professor of architecture and construction engineering) have spent the last couple weeks building a fence. Old one was shitty and rotten. Granted, the main body of the fence is Home Depot panels but it was still a ton of work. Posts are bomber pressure treated post-on-pipe (no wood contacts the ground) which should last for decades even in the PNW.
Pic 1 - Hog wire section. Our kid plays in the court there with the neighbor kids and we want to be able to sit on the patio, drink and still see her. Also, only 4.5 feet high for passing a beer to the neighbors.
Pic2 - Former RV/Boat pad we didn't use next to the garage. Re-purposing it to a hot tub area eventually.
    Pic3 - Back patio/garden.
Still need to put in the last gate out against the house, cut to posts down and cap them, and stain everything but the hard part is done.

    Boardwalk up to the studio
    5/4 ipe on a 45
It has a subtle incline to it from sidewalk to studio

(Studio is my design work but I didn’t build it myself)

Ya, wish I had hung on to my old bump skis from the 70s and 80s. Parents threw them out when moving to retirement downsized housing. I did find some skiable K2 233 Mids in the same size and bindings I had at age 16. Took them out last spring for shits and giggles. Hart Freestyles got tossed when I changed to K2s. Rossi FMs skied and filed to death. K2 710 FOs for both SL and bumps didn't get saved. Here's what I do with old skis I no longer ski and couldn't give away to other skiers. Got a couple pairs of skis the kids have outgrown in the shed I'd like to give away at a gathering but if not they'll also end up here..

I did manage to hang on to my USSA Freestyle competition bibs.. three seasons of that.

Looks great! Although the anal engineer in me sees two screws that are not spaced evenly like the others

Ipe is not fun to work with, but I love how it looks when completed. Went through 6 drill bits for a 300sf deck I built.

I think it’s two 55” sections or one 55” and a 75” can’t remember, track saws are the best thing ever for cutting sheeting

Mickael Bimboes, pro skier, Verbier winner and Down Skis athlete is renovating his home. He's documenting the whole project here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJN...Ux3Zz6W4OCVfHA.
Mika seems to know what he is doing and is generally stoked about life. I didn't think I could follow a channel about home renovation, but here I am...
Of course, everything is in french....

I threw this bunk bed together one weekend, and then proceeded to spend 3 more weekends (and countles weeknights) sanding, painting, sanding, painting... Finally it's done! Cheaper than the cheapest option at Ikea if you ignore the labor.
