Thanks everyone, I appreciate the advice. I will conduct some experiments and report back. The ski I cut with a hand saw had a metal layer and that was annoying. I have a few more like that and would rather not do it by hand. I will make sure I don't accidentally walk to China or cut my hand off. snoqpass: nice chair and lift!

Jesus Hugh... Take it easy, man. Nothing personal. Put the gun down and take a deep breath.

If it were me, I'd use a chop saw for this project. Klar could borrow one most likely and cut 10-20 skis in 15-30 minutes. Safely. Table saw would be a tricky and dangerous method in my opinion and dremel on a metal ski could take hours and not produce a very straight edge.

I know you make great stuff, but this is something I am very confident about. PM me if you want to fight it out in person.

A bookcase to replace the crappy Ikea one the wife bought

    A paid project

I'm not going to PM you for more smarmy lying bullshit like the last time (s), and it's clearly important enough for this shit, so eat a dick. the whole two-faced maggot bullshit - like above - fucking blows man. It was a suggestion on how to do it with whats their - not blow $75 on some stupid project like apparently this whole fucking thread is "i just bought $4,000 of hand tools to make a cuttingboard"

I was kidding... about fighting. I can live with your curious, misplaced resentment.

And I thought the best part of these projects, is that it's a legitimate excuse to buy more tools...

Used a metal chop saw for my cuts, it works

$4,000 for hand tool, nope but $1,000 for a saw and vacuum is ok

Last time I chopped some skis I used an angle grinder, it was far from ideal and I don't really recommend it.

Also, snoqpass- did those shells have the holes out did you drill them? I only have seen the 105mm shells and they don't have holes.

Shells are from a recoilless rifle, already perforated, I've seen some with lights in them for handrail posts on a deck

Snoqpass-- did you work on that ski lift project with the local community, or was a totally private affair? In Italy they would throw me in prison for such forward/upward thinking! Anyways, keep up the handicraft, you're good!

I'd guess the majority of skis that the masses buy still do have a wood core.

Just finished my "What to do when it's 90 degrees outside" project. I've always had 2 car garages but one bay has always been dedicated as my shop. I bet this could be installed in a way the door could still operate.

Private deal, some of the towers got bent when they were dropped i had to splice the straight sections to make a good one

Shit you built with your own two hands (picture thread)

A little outdoor shower pagoda type dealio I built for the in-laws. The floor is mahogany and the rest is cedar. A shower beer is pretty much mandatory when using this thing.

Ha, I hemmed and hawed over this for a while - in the end, because the Maine coast typically doesn't get that much snow compared to the rest of the state, the shower is protected by a canopy of evergreen trees, and it's only 6' wide, I decided I'd omit collars and ridge support in the interest of clean lines. The fact that we didn't pull a permit and that my in-laws promised not to sue me also helped with that decision

Might be a bit of a stretch for the shit you built with your own hands thread since I mostly used some software and a CNC turret punch, but built this prototype fire pit yesterday:
