I built a catapult once out of nothing more than cedar planks split off a fallen tree with a splitting maul and some wedges, twine, a short piece of 1" pipe, a little rope, two 5 gallon buckets filled with river rock, and a steel bowl to hold the projectile. Managed to launch a 15 lb bowling ball about 60 feet before the fire burned down and it was cannabilized to provide heat and light.

Cheating some, since I have two employees who help perform miracles. There are some aspects that I never give up because I'm anal or I just feel that if a mistake is going to be made late in the game, you (as an employee) don't want to be the one making it. I lay claim to the design and the structural integrity of this recent project and the main man on the cupola.

This pic shows 2 of my projects. My 1972 Whaler restore, and my 16 ft span gate. The boat has had all the mahogany either stripped and refinished, or completely re made with new wood. The gate is designed to hold its own weight up by spreading the load down the diagonal pices. It is one heavy ass gate.


This shot shows the rock walkway I made a few months ago too. I also built the deck in the background. Actually, come to think of it, I built the whole damn backyard.

I have done a million things to this, but the brick walkway is my favorite. It was recycled from a rear patio. All the brick is old 1940s brick from downtown St Petersburg buildings. They used to sell the leftovers to the residents. This walkway took at least 2 months. There is at least 1 foot of sand under the whole thing to raise it up. Toughest thing I have ever built. My back just hurts looking at it.

In middle school, my dad helped me build a miniature guillotine (I did most of the work myself). I wish I had a photo of it, that thing was cool! Blade was sharp too. It cut carrots, but did not completely sever the barbie's head I tried to chop off...the plastic was too hard for the blade to cut all the way through I think.

I also designed and hand-sewed the beautiful period velvet dress and feathered hat the barbie doll victim was wearing. It was a very pretty ensemble if I do say so myself.

Oh, and last year I built a ski chair out of old skis (with a 'lil help). There is a photo floating around of it but I'm too lazy to find it.
