    virgin america

when I flew virgin to london last year, I was shocked at how great ViriginAtlantic was.. wondered why we couldn't get that kind of service domestically. Jetblue is great, but it didn't hold a candle to VA.

so when I saw virgin america, I eagerly checked it out.
it might replace jetblue as my favorite domestic airline..

Virgin America is the first U.S. airline with mood lighting.
There are 3000 MP3s onboard every flight.
You can plug in to 110v power at every seat.
You can order fresh food when you want it, from the screen at your seat.
Red, our in-flight entertainment system, has over 25 pay-per-view Hollywood on demand.
Virgin America is a cashless airline. Place your order, swipe your card, and you’re done.
I said, "yeah but what about the price?" turns out that, right now, a flight from NYC to LAX is as low as $129 each way.

I wish I had a reason to go somewhere.. (:

It's basically setting up to become the jetBlue-west. I hope it does well, give the legacy carriers a swift kick in the ass.

awesome! ill have to check this out.

edit: hmmm...their routes are quite limitted at the moment.

We plan to fly to most of the major destinations on the West Coast, East Coast, and throughout the U.S. using brand new Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. We will announce each of our new markets about 90 days before flying there.

Virgin America expects to serve as many as 10 cities within a year of operation and up to 30 cities within five years of service. Additional cities under Virgin America's consideration include: Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Hartford, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Nashville, Newark, New Orleans, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Providence, Portland, Raleigh-Durham, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, San Jose, Sarasota, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa and West Palm Beach.
hopefully denver, SLC and newark come aboard within the year. too bad no hawaii destinations though.

I wish someone else would do the direct flight from SEA to BOS. Alaska and Jetblue are good, but some more selection and competition is always a good thing. Maybe in a few years.
