There's an excellent Gyro stand on Rue St. Catharine in Montreal. Right next to a damn good strip club. Other than that I'm not sure where the nearest Greek population center is.

Yeah and the great thing about Gyro stands is that you can ride right up to them on your mountain bike.

Seriously though, if you know your size, you can always order online.

Why would you want to put a Gyro on a mountain bike? Besides, it probably wouldn't work very well- the whole bike has to be designed to use one. Most mountain bikes don't have cable routing that would work with a gyro.

Yeah, but you'd NEVER fall over. Think about it, no endos, no high siding when adjusting your turn radius mid-turn, and no slow speed "I can't get my foot out of my clipless pedal in time" topples.

I think ALL mountain bikes should come with Gyros as standard equipment. Perhaps in segregated levels (like other components). LX Gyro would prevent slow speed topples, but not high siding and endos. XT would add endo prevention. XTR would keep you upright no matter what and possibly even add a little pre-recorded message to alert hikers that you're coming up on them.

Handlebar streamers would still be optional at all levels though.

But at least a giant, welded on hoop would give AKPM protection from his inevitable over-the-bars endo.

if you run the right length disk cable upfront you can still do bar spins(actually only 1 bar spin) and not have too much cable housing. I have this set up on my bike and it works well. you can also get some speacial headset hardware which will allow you to route the cable through the steerer tube. I have seen this done, but not sure what parts you need exactly(you can prbly find a pic on pink bike though)

...and of course you will have to run a rather long rear cable to make this all work.

You can't run a Gyro on a Mt. Bike because there are too many cables.

However, they make star nuts you can run a front brake cable through. Run the rest of your cables long.

    See my bike.

Call your local shops or check out Dan's Comp.

Would a BMX one work with single speed up front? I mean all the rock star urban MTBers seem to run gyros, or do they?

A Gyro is only good for running one cable: the rear brake.

On mountain bikes you typically have 3 cables going from the bars to the frame: Rear Brake, Front Deraileur and Rear Deraileur.

There's NO WAY to do it with any gyro I've ever seen. The only way to do it is by running long cables, and routing your front brake through the steer tube or maybe running it long like hev said.

What you want to do is pretty niche, so I'd suggest hitting up pinkbike or mtbr or ridemonkey.

    2) Blend yogurt mixture with a whip until smooth.

    3) Dry cucumbers by patting with paper towels.

    4) Add Cucumbers and dill to yogurt mixture.

    5) Salt and pepper to taste.
