    America West has very low frequent flier mileage redemption points to fly into San Jose, Costa Rica -- something like 30,000 miles from the US to CR.

    Edit: checked, AWA is now part of US Airways, but award mile redemption seems to be the same.

    Believe it or not there is more to do in SA than ski (NO WAY!) Lima was just my jumping off point for Cuzco, Machu Piccu, Ecuador (Quito, Guyaquil) and the Galapagos Islands.

    $544 (inc. taxes) for SFO to EZE on delta courtesy of travelocity about 1.5 months ago. Was hoping cheapest honors would go to me, but KQ seems to have scored the absolute most amazing deal to Peru.
