    Happy Pioneer Day!

We live with some of the weirdest liquor laws in the nation 365 days of the year, and we get this one state holiday in return.

    Thank you, Brigham Young.

    Enjoy.

I live just off the parade route. We got buzzed by an F-14 or some such shit, maybe 300ft off the deck. Goddamn that was loud.

Pioneer days? No beers or something.

Washington just opened liquor stores on Sundays, after church of course.

Without Brigham Young there would be no ALTA

Without funny liquor laws there wouldn't be anxious hooldlems wondering about UTAH.

No matter how you think about it UTAH is great and so are the quirks.

Long Live UTAH - and all the perks that accompany the BEEHIVE STATE.

    Now let's eat some JELLO

Down the street someone is playing the drums, I thought Native Americans were on the war path and coming for me. SCARY!

The mormon pioneers were responsible for helping settle the west. Silver mining is what drew people to the Wasatch where ALTA, Park City, Snowbird, Solitude, Brighton, etc. are now located. Mormons provided all the materials including food, liquor, tools, etc. that miners needed to continue working in the high mountains above Salt Lake City. Without Brigham Young and the Mormon Pioneers, the long lasting legacy from the Wasatch Mountains surrounding the Great Salt Lake area would not have the same notoriety.

    Happy 24th Mags!

BUT...the area would have been explored, manipulated, and filled with brothels, bars, gambling houses, and stores whether MoMo's were there or not.
In fact, I guarantee the architecture would have been a vastly different scene in SLC in the 1860's-1920's if it had been Colorado style victorian...simply a shame.

The architecture in SLC from that era is very unique (i.e. The Avenues, 9th and 9th, NW Sugarhouse).

And I agree; the Wasatch would have been settled regardless--Mo's or not. As it played out, they did, and now I have the 24th off!
