Post 2002 Summit (In keeping up with the Blast from the Past themes)

    "When Summits were Cool"

This flashback is dedicated to all the cool cats at the inaugural SLC Summit in April 2002. Here's a reminder on what will probably never be repeated again.

    "That Day" - Alta

    The line-up

Monsieurs Pinner and Highman exchanging pleasantries

Punani, Shoe, unknown in orange jacket, 2planker, Poppa Kush, unknown, and AKA wait for the rope to drop

    Bad News Session

    Kush re-entry

    Shoe spinning

    The Peanut Gallery
(L-R. unknown in red, Armchair Extreme, Buster, Clack, Frozen, unknown in olive jacket, 2 planker, funken)

    Apres Beers

Cletus, Armchair, Xover, 2P, ?, ?, phUnk, ?, Clack, Shoe

    Splat, Buster and co.

The huckfest continued well after the mountain and bar shut down. Clack spots his line from the 3rd floor of the Alta housing building.

Undentified gives new meaning to the term "dumpster diving"

Twoplanker hucks his meat, and misses the sharp corner of a snow covered dumpster (= guaranteed disembowelment) by less than a foot.

The swarm of maggots then hung out at the parking lot until every last drop of sweet sweet beer was consumed.

    Karaoke time...

    Xover. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

phUnk fresh from his GQ cover shoot.

    Greydon Clark gets down

Disco Dave complete with mullet and handlebar moustache is unamused by the shenanigans.

...and the finale, Dancing with the Stars SLC edition with Meatdrink and Rusty Nails

    Get a hotel room!!!!

Bunch of random shots from random days.

    BLT gap session

Poppa Kush, Kush, Bum Z, Pinner, Miss phUnk (also Powho, phUnk)

    Kush was immortalized

    HHHEYYYYY..CHECK MEEEE OUT!!!!

    More random days:
Snowbird (Pu, phUnk, Kush, Powho, Splat, AKA, Miss phUnk)

    Class of '02 photos
Backpack, Easyrider, unknown crouching, YardSale, Pu, ?, Miss phUnk,

    Somebody help me out here
Back row: Yardsale, ?. ?, Rusty Nails, Greydon Clark, Miss phUnk, Pinner, MoE, ?, Bum Z, Armchair Extreme, GT40
Front Row: Easyrider, ?, Pu, Meatdrink, backpack, ?, Endlessseason

PowHo takes me to a secret stash

Pinner digging out his truck after he took me on a Cougar Hunting tour of Park City pubs

Powstash hooked us all up at the Canyons.

Obligatory shot before some unbeaconed backcountry virgins got their cherries popped.

Maximum crew size before people start getting ditched or lost.

    Storm Day at Boss Hogg's

Scoping the Inrun - Stoysluttie, Meatdrink and phUnk prepare to get Xtreme.

    MD9 does a front flip

    phUnk does a back

These pics are just a tip of the iceberg as far as what went down. Unfortunately the original real-time posts from that time period has been forever erased in the PowderMag fiasco. If anyone has other pics post 'em up!

Holy Christ is that an amazing picture!!!

Are you sure this was '02? Judging by the tucked in shirt while singing karaoke... 91? makes you wonder.

    Thumbs up

I finally had to retire that jacket after it snagged on a branch and one side ripped apart on the traverse from lone tree to back door this season. I also finally bought a new helmet yesterday (on super-duper-uber clearance... $22!) and new bibs too... holy crap I'm going to have new gear next season!

I have some photos stashed away at home... I'll post them when I get back from work.

Edit: Added these, none are my photos, but they're from the summit and I found them in a backup folder. I have a bunch of my own but I have to pick some and resize them and blahblahblah gotta clean my apartment now.

exceeeeeelent work SP. I don't remember that picture from The Canyons day but I sure remember having a good time with the maggots. Little did I realize I would become one.

Where have all the good men gone, long time waiting...

No seriously, where did all those people go, did they all change their handles or did they just disappear into Odin's head.

I find it hard to believe that you guys actually exist. I am pretty sure that you are all delusions of my mind and that I am locked up in some coma recovery room at a hospital.

One thing that I know for a fact is that if I don't know that you exist, then for all intents and purposes you don't exist. Odin

Thanks for that. Also makes me glad I have a new helmet on order, i didnt know I had that thing in 2002.
That was, without a doubt, some of the most fun I have ever had.

I was there for the '02 Summit (although, and this haunts me still, only for the first, very sunny and dry 4 days), and I swear to God I don't remember it being that blurry. What are those, scans of Polaroids???

They are all still around, here and there, some more than others. Armchair is occasionaly spotted in NYC, running his restuarant.

In "Peanut Gallery" and "Apres..." the red and yellow jackets on far left are myself and Cornhole respectively. Armchair was around and did wear yellow (and can be seen in the lift line in the Hyman & Pinner shot and the group shot at the end, but that aint him in the others. You can tell the difference in the helmet - Cornhole had a ghastly rasberry colored helm, Armchair Extreme (a.k.a. ACE) had a silver.

I can't believe I've known you fools for six years now.
