Unfortunately not eligible, since I took it in May. Prolly shouldn't have had the coffee that night.Last edited by Tippster; 07-26-2007 at 09:00 PM.

Here are some playing around with long exposures by the airport (planes were landing E -> W so no shots as they come in since they need to land W -> E to come over you with where you can be parked and whatnot).
Semi truck rumbled my tripod during this shot, came out interesting

I have a bunch of possibilities from a little Maggot gathering in Friday Harbor this weekend but I will keep them out of the running to protect the innocent and guilty.

Suprisingly, I took it with my point-n-shoot. I took about ten photos, and liked this one best, I might have metered off the sky, but I cant remember. Then I cropped and smart sharpened in Photoshop.

Cool, thanks. How about environmental observations? It looks to me like late in the day with moderate cloud cover, but it has the surreal look almost like it was a moonlight shot. Definitely a sweet, sweet pic. Im struggling to get those nice saturated greens with my 20D--Im jealous!

Yup, 6pm with scattered thunderstorms - always makes for some interesting light. When I shoot with my 10D I often choose RAW mode and bracketing, then adjust the saturation later in CS2. My view screen is so small its hard for me to tell some times if I got the exposure I was looking for. So I just take an assload of photos with slightly different settings of the same scene, then sort 'em out later. Im still a photo JONG though.....

Because often times data is lost off the high and low ends. Raw data usually has 12 bits per channel while Jpeg is usually 8 so there is some more depth, but still if you're off the left or right there is no getting that data back.

True, but with being able to view the image along with a histogram on the digital camera I don't really end up with images that are insanely blown out or completely underexposed as I usually nuke them before they even get off the card. On a film camera, proper bracketting can be a key to getting "the shot." Just really haven't had any expereiences thus far with my digital that bracketting would have resulted in anything that much better IMHO.

Sounds like you are self bracketing then. I never use it myself either. It can be useful for hdr images though. Keep in mind that exposure works on analog data while post processing in raw is with digital data so adding EV in raw isn't exactly the same as doing it on camera.
