so cool to see my 3 year old posts...considering going there and having no idea that opening was (as of current projections) 7 years away.

the ancient egyptians could have built a real mountain in the meadowlands in less time...

    so weak

and hey, they already have their theme song:

A place where nobody dared to go, the love that we came to know
    They call it Xanadu

And now, open your eyes and see, what we have made is real
    We are in Xanadu

A million lights are dancing and there you are, a shooting star
An everlasting world and you're here with me, eternally

    Chorus:
Xanadu, Xanadu, (now we are here) in Xanadu
Xanadu, Xanadu, (now we are here) in Xanadu

Xanadu, your neon lights will shine for you, Xanadu

The love, the echoes of long ago, you needed the world to know
    They are in Xanadu

The dream that came through a million years
That lived on through all the tears, it came to Xanadu

A million lights are dancing and there you are, a shooting star
An everlasting world and you're here with me, eternally

    chorus

Now that I'm here, now that you're near in Xanadu
Now that I'm here, now that you're near in Xanadu, Xanadu

but yeah - weird to see my 3-year-old post, too.

driving by on the turnpike, the thing has looked completed for a year now. i wonder what's holding them up? knowing NJ, probably not enough grease for the local powers-that-be.

I drove by it on my way to Jay in April. Pretty hideous looking from the outside. I think the financing dried up when Lehman went down the shitter.

that TR actually would be kind of epic..

    consider:

it would be a poach, since it doesn't open for at least 3 years.

    and, of course, no snow.

No doubt. Prolly will have 10* slope and a fast food box. It's going to be a long summer.

I'll probably drive down from Canada and ski it once.

Mind you it's probably be on a family vacation thingy and one day of "skiing". Wonder if they let me crossed the border with skis in July (hard enough when I went to Tux in July) to say... yeah, going skiing in New Jersey...in July (or whenever).

The backside is pretty gnarly looking. A pure 90 degree slope.
