    Need help in selecting surfboard

I'm looking for a new board and am kinda lost on what I should get. I have a 6'2" shortboard right now but it is not right for the waves around Melbourne, FL and my skill level. I was looking at a Blake quadrail that is about 7' but am more interested in hearing what design features I should get in a board.

So bottom line is what are some good boards for Florida waves that are anywhere from 7' to about 6'5"?

    Hey Gilligan, little buddy:
Don't take this the wrong way but I don't see why people ask the "what board do I get" on an internet forum.
The relationship of ability and wave quality compounded by the selection process of size and shape of a surfboard is too complex to answer.
Generally, small waves are better on a longer board.
Bigger waves are better on a shorter board.
Then there's a point where as the waves get bigger so does the board.

Do you live in a surfing area?
If so, what are people riding?
    What are the shops selling?
Do you see a particular surfer who may be at an ability level that's just a notch or two above yours? What is he/she riding?
Go down to the beach and open your eyes.
How did you end up with a 6/2 shortboard anyway?
Finally, what is it you expect to be doing? Rip gulf coast mush like a pro in a video? Or cruise, carve and glide in style?
    Good luck, Dude

ask around at a few local surf shops - when they start saying the same thing, you may be on to something. having said that I had to hit almost 10 shops to find what I wanted to buy for my g/f... they all wanted to sell her massive mini-mals that she could even paddle let alone lift! Finally found a shop that listened to us and have been v happy with the board

thanks for the advice guys. Went down to the local surfshop and got 6'7" Zee. Haven't tried it yet, it was as flat as a pond , but it should be better than I had = easier to paddle
