Sold 42P BYND expiring weeklies. Was short going into earnings. Still short. Trying to take advantage of options vol

Closed out PTON short last week. Otherwise quite light on short exposure sadly.

As expected tech and dividend heavy grandpa stocks took a good asskicking. Not buying anything but just reinvesting dividends.

Sold a few VIX puts a few days ago but not terribly convinced about it as a trade.

I was watching a YouTube video where someone was pointing out what Canadian banks did last week as a catalyst for uncertainty in the financial sector. I don’t know but it was suggested that what was happening was much more disruptive than is being reported

Companies moving away from Canadian banks. Public trust in banks down

?? Wondering where the bottom is. I got a bit of cash to buy more
As of this morning I am down 2,000$. On what I invested the past 90 days I’m not worried about it. It all comes back eventually

I'll look into that, but I'm an American with American bank accounts. Will consult the rulebook though.
Even living abroad as a US citizen can cause issues for holding mutual funds and index funds in a brokerage account. There are stories of brokers shutting down investment accounts if you log in from an international IP address. To overcome compliance issues, you'll likely need an international brokerage account from someone like Schwab or Fidelity.

Looks like Gold is finally doing it’s job thank god. Curious if it will make a good 15% run.

    But STONKS!

I've also gone back to my (losing) strategy of dealing with black swans by buying monthly ootm SPY puts as an overall port hedge.

1973-74 bear market? Bear market extended by Yom Kippur war & subsequent Arab oil embargo?

Absolutely possible. Those charts I posted conveniently don't extend very far in the Y axis. Also quite a few of the bounces were dead cat

    Stonks only go up.

Ukraine war means fed is going to try to fight 8% inflation with 25 basis point raise instead of 50, all while continuing QE. More cheap money means that asset prices continue to inflate.

There’s lots of bullshit about oil/gas because it matters to rich countries, but russias been lining up their current customers for food (china dropped wheat sanctions, Pakistan prime minister aka last years largest wheat importer was there today) and food is more important for stability. The other questions are fertilizer and metals - aviation likes Russian titanium. Not that that matters when it’s the feds fault is narrative

Ended up being an uneventful day on the investment front

In the real world a 1.5% one day gain is something to celebrate
I am entertained watching my checking accounts go wildly up and down day to day

Never a good thing when shits already crazy.

    Nasdaq down 3% pre mkt.

It was a good bounce to the bottom of the previous value range, but seems to be a sell the rally type mkt.

Central banks are going to have their hands full :

    - The ruble will drop and might collapse
    - Foreign subsidiaries of Russian banks will likely fail
    - There will be bank runs in Russia
    - Russian entities & debtors will miss large payments
    - Many Western firms will be hurt too
