Nah. It also means no tax increases. Trillions of dollars for buybacks and profit margin.

No, this is a natural result of the expectation that interest rates will rise, so institutional investors are de-leveraging a bit. It's healthy to let air out and raise rates.

The alternative is inflation, which is a massively regressive tax on the poor.

Adding an additional 2 trillion in spending at a time when the economy is running at 7% inflation would have added to inflation.

IMHO, if we want things like electric car tax credits, universal preschool or additional child tax credits, we should pay for them by generating revenue through taxation and not money printing.

Also, IMHO we should stop incentivizing population growth. We don't need more people on this earth.

There are a *lot* of things we should stop incentivizing... but, you know... growth.

Is the stock market going to tank?

Insane day today. 4% swing in the last 4 hours of the day. WTF was that? Was the federal reserve pumping money in?

I’m happy to see rates act inversely to stocks. Ideal would be a 2% 10y and a back and fill stock market holding the low.

Girlfriend was furiously buying stocks this morning: JPM, IBM, GM, F. Crushed it.

I think the number of retail investors entering the market in the last couple years is an influence on the increased volatility too.

You see, just turn the fucking TV and internet off, and it's as though it never happened.

There are a lot of DJIA and NASDEQ companies who stand to lose bigly if those stimulus projects don't actually happen. You can bet that's a factor in this uncertainty and loss of confidence. Ya, interest rates are the prime factor (pun intended), but when companies lose big projects and start laying people off shit cascades. Propping it up with artificially low interest rates isn't really any better than printing some money while working towards finally getting the top 10% to pay their fair share of taxes to fund this recoery..

I’ve been holding out cash for the past few months and decided this morning to jump into Apple, Microsoft, Disney and ARKK. The last few hours made me feel smart. We’ll see how smart I look in a few months.

    Today was interesting.
I was just pissed I had just spent a good sum of money on a nice gift for my sister and bil. I wanted it back to buy this morning!
It’s about the longer term but getting a chance to jump into the low side of today was fun

Really tempted by RIVN at these prices. No idea why XOM is holding up, but I am not complaining.

Everyone is a genius during a bull market, so let's see where the smart money is going.

Why is the price tempting? does it deserve a $54b market cap?

I'm also thinking about some other stocks I have:
    1) Coinbase - why do I have this if it's already in arkk? Maybe it has enough volatility to swing trade?
    2) Baba - does this give me some good international exposure? Good for long term hold?
    3) Intc - is this a blue chip? can it perform at some point? Good for long term hold?

I like stocks like BABA and INTC because Wall Street pretty much hates them. Like XOM two years ago.

Yes, always check your funds for overlap. It’s important.
