No, but the stock market could certainly drop 50 percent.

I like the background for LUV. It's been hit by Boeing problems and now fear of travel. Being domestic they will benefit when people return to travel and choose to stay in the country. Berkshire might even decide to buy it as has been rumored and already owns 10%. Chart is ok too.

But you could listen to Benny who admittedly doesn't follow the stock market, has a secret mutual fund, and thought Facebook was a sham.

Sounds pretty good to me. But, if you dont like reporters and want an economist with a good history and likes to party, how about Dr. Doom? He's back!

Is the stock market going to tank?

I was thinking the same re Southwest. I fly them all the time. They have a good product, good profitability, etc. but Monday seems too soon. If this thing does spread thru America with an R0 of >2 and a mortality rate >.1, it has a ways to fall imo.

Opportunity happens fast. Look at December 2018. Low might be in for XOM and CHV.

Oil is at 45, it was under 25 a few years ago.

XOM diversified poorly to Natgas but gas is near decades lows. The stock will bottom before the commodities. Like I've said, at current dividend you get all your money back in 14~ years at a 7% payout. Could for sure go a lot lower though.

Just read that S&P futures are up 1%, but I have to confess, I don’t know what this portends. Can anyone explain?

March is a quarterly expiration month. A lot will depend on which way the leverage gets resolved .

Test of the low and reversal overnight is usually a good thing.

China is rallying because they have relatively high rates, a weak currency, and lots of reserve for fiscal stimulus.

Ok, then, which one of these reports is true?

Hearing different stories about the Asian markets

    https://www.thejakartapost.com/news/...s-spreads.html

    VS.

    https://money.cnn.com/data/world_markets/asia/

Likely we will see a small rally?

I wouldn't put much stock (heh) in futures or after hours. The volume of trades during those times is a fraction as during the actual business day. I think it is mostly algos trading with each other, trying to figure out what market sentiment is going to be. I have been burned many times thinking I am getting out in front of the market only to have it go sideways at 9:30ET.

Both, opened lower and moved sharpy higher. Moved back lower around 04:00 Pacific (typical, that's when US traders get to work) and now back higher. Could go either way today. Up 1000 down 1000 or flat.
