Mormon's have kids but they don't ski and can't do anything on Sunday. Have heard on multiple occasions that the skiing population of SLC is very small. I tend to agree with that anecdotally. I teach each March for four Saturdays with SheJumps. They bring up kids from the local Boys & Girls Club, free lift tickets, rentals, lunch, snacks, and ski clothes, helmets & gloves. Boys & Girls Club are scattered from different socio - economic areas. The one thing that is almost universal is that 90% of the kids have never been in the mountains. I don't mean skiing, I mean never been in the mountains. Seems hard to imagine that a field trip, science project something would get them up one of the canyons by the time their 13 but actually no.

Based on trumps heavy handed approach of the economy and my intuition. Oct is historically a bad time for markets.

You can just say "a feeling." No one can argue with that.

Who here doesn't bet on feelings?

Point drop should be percentage drop fro accuracy. 733 points is not as a big deal now compared to 2008.

6 out of the last 8 Octobers were positive with most years sp500 up over 2% for the month

Curious what your intuition said about/before September (up .6% for the month) August (up over 3%) July (up almost 4%) June (up .6%) May (up 2 and a half) April (up .4%).

And now they shut it down when things get really crazy like right after 911 or when some hackers appear to be rigging transactions to favor their arbitrage. Isn't that cheating to shut it down??

Is the stock market going to tank?

“Trader” was an excellent 7 part documentary on PBS and I did not see a negative spin too it.

Saw a thing on small caps that basically said it’s a garbage pile because anything small that is worthwhile is soon to be or will be acquired or remains private

What's the best guess on interest rates? Would a blue wave or a red tide November election results fare better in the markets?? We know tariffs are hurting industry short term, democrats taking back the senate might alleviate that, but the possibility of impeaching the President would definitely push far more conservative bare market decisions.

Way too early to reach that conclusion imo, but it wouldn't be a bad time to put 1-2% of your net worth into crypto as a hedge against US collapse. I may go 10-30% into bitcoin once it bottoms est. $1-4k. It takes years for the system to adjust like that, so think of it more as a phenomenon to track at the annual level vs. panic tomorrow.
