    Boulder/Nederland/Rollinsville area Mags

    Boulder/Nederland/Rollinsville area Mags

Just pulled trigger on some el-cheapo air, and am throwing together a quick 3 day solo trip in Jan…now trying to frame together a plan of some sorts…1st 2 days will be Summit county...

for the last day, I have a 3:15 pm flight out, so was thinking of hitting up Eldora for a morning mission, then heading back to DIA. I havent been up there in probably a good 7-8 years….my question is - If I stay the night before in Central City/Blackhawk at some el-cheapo casino joint (any recommendations???)…

    1) - How long a drive to Eldora from CC/BH?
    2) - I rember the drive (119?) to be backroad/twistay ass switchbacks etc….how subject is the road to closures etc??(If at all? Storms not-withstanding?)\

    Thx

dude, way to plan in advance!

Eldora is less than 30 mins from CC even in bad conditions - more like 15 most times. Seems like they never close the road, but maybe sometimes.

No recommendations for lodging in CC/BH but there are a coupla cheap motels around Ned - the Eldora website has some links.

Eldora to central city would be more like 30 minimum, 45 since you don't know the curves and can't drive fast. The road is very rarely closed (I've never seen it closed and we drive it all the time for skiing).

Why don't you stay at the Best Western in Ned? It's a nice lodge, has a hottub, and not too pricey. Central City makes me cringe every time I drive through it, so I can't imagine staying the night. Ned has live music most nights of the week, and some fun bars. You'll have much more fun spending the night there. If you want more info send a pm, I live just outside of Ned.
