Because I like to look cool when I run. Also I went after work and forgot running pants and it was too cold for shorts. Sometimes you gotta run what you brung.

Today I ran a new section of BST a few miles from my house - most trails close to me are straight up, like 1250 vert in one mile - so now I have a nice out-and-back super close that's not a suffer fest.

Beautiful run in Foresthill/Auburn yesterday. Just over 12 miles, under 2k climbing, with 4x 5min fast, 3min easy. Being on trails is sooo much nicer than any other option - was definitely in flow. Haven’t had that much fun in a while.

I actually like them to get in ski shape. Just not every day.

Fool, nice trails. I'd like to MTB those some day!

Today's run above the nasty-ass pollution of Salt Lake valley.

    Nice pics muted!

fool - that does look fun! My in-laws are in the East Bay Area, and every time we visit I seem to have at least one just amazing run on trails similar in nature to those in your pics. Super fun stuff.

I love the mornings when you force yourself out even though the weather looks like crap and then you get rewarded. This was one of those days in the mountains outside Seattle. Caught a bit of a weather window that's closing later today.

Thanks, just waiting for the local ski area to have cold enough temps to blow snow

Beautiful shots. How far from seattle?

I turned around here today - looks snowy but the trail up was bare or packed snow that was easy-ish to run. Fun to scope lines on a run.

About 30 miles in North Bend. It's the first real mountains along I90 as you head east.

They were awesome, and actually had more MTBers on them than anything!

Oh yeah, the E Bay has some great stuff. I haven't explored everywhere but I also had family in the E Bay and would run in Redwood Regional - always astounding how forested it is (and how Star Wars-y it feels).

100% agreed, Phatty. Sometimes it's hard but it's usually always worth it. Great pics!

Winter is finally coming and snow level is dropping. First snowy lap at the local trails of the season. Pretty wet and sloppy at the bottom, but frosty and fast at the top. 2k and 3.5 mile quick one.

    Running, Anyone...?

    muted runs now? That’s concerning.

Bone dry (no rain for weeks) plus leaves makes for a special kind of treacherous. Fortunately, as predictable as our lack of snow, we can count on the more motivated (and retired) among us to go out and clear the treachery. Dog bless ‘em.

No pics but I got out for a good 70 minutes this morning in the snow. I'm on cruiser suburban trails for the most part but there's still some real pleasure to be found in gearing down and running slowly uphill in fresh snow.

Cruiser that first snow run of the season is always nice!

I’m still coming to terms that I’m a runner, as it sounds like some of you are too. Shit, I’m pondering signing up for 2-3 trail runs/marathons next year! Wtf.

It tried to snow here today. Ended up just blowing wind all day. Got out for 6 this afternoon

Been running along this nice crusher fines canal trail by my house for many years but I've only recently discovered the pleasure of running in the canal. There's enough vegetation and elevation to provide a good buffer between the trail above and the canal below so it feels like a nice secluded trail run despite being right there next to the well used trail. I’ve never thought I’d enjoy headphones+running but was gifted some from Mrs benk over the holidays. Currently digging long easy distance with a good book(The Body-Bill Bryson) on tape

Looks like a nice canal, Cruiser!

Benk, I definitely love running with headphones. For some reason I don't love audiobooks but I usually crush podcasts, which are such a hit on TGR. Either news podcasts during weekday running or longer format podcasts on the weekend long runs.

On our 3rd week of high pressure in Seattle and we finally lost the fog, so I wanted to get out on my close trails (Tiger Mountain). They recently logged all 3 summits and destroyed the connecting trails, so I wanted to check the damage and see if they could still be connected. Luckily others had beat in new trails connecting all 3 summits and the logging has opened up views for most of the run between them. Got in 6.7mi and 2800ft for my first run in 2 months. Felt great to be out again. Fortunately snow should be coming back this week so who knows when I'll get another run in like this.

Phatty- those last 2 pics make the uphill sufferfest worth the effort (plus the beer on the porch when you get home )

They definitely do. Had to take advantage of the last day before the clouds come back. I got a race I'm doing in April and need to get started getting ready for it.

Rather suburban compared with most people's stomping grounds here, but thought you guys might like this composite of my regular out and back (good tune if you turn up volume : ):
