Awesome! Unfortunately I couldn't push the start of my new job to join, but sounded awesome.
Had to go to NYC for my first week and was able to get in 3 runs for 15ish miles in the nights after work. Insane November weather with temps in the 70s every day. Not as fun as my trail runs, but felt good to stretch the legs a bit. Had to work off all the awesome food I ate

Anyone have a good recommendation where I should go look for running tights? Its getting cold enough that running in shorts has become unpleasant.
Is this something I can go down to REI and get a decent pair, or should I find a running shop?

The Janji Trail tights are legit amazing if you aren't budget cunstrained. My S22 phone fits in the back pocket, which is way nicer than than side ones (where it also fits). REI carries them.
I also have some cheapos from Bezos, and they are nowhere near as nice but like 1/5 the price.ride bikes, climb, ski, travel, cook, work to fund former, repeat.

I’ve been using a pair I got from REI previously [emoji6] years ago. Not fancy at all. Probably due for an upgrade, the elastic is starting to give and the tend to start sliding down my ass on runs, but for the amount I actually use them they’re fine.
I also have a pair of GoLite lined tights for super cold days. But those are hardly needed. I’ve almost overheated in them.

Wowzer that was heck of a week! Ran this half marathon today and at the finish line hit 72 miles and 8200ft to top off this bootcamp week!
My time was 1:37 which technically is my slowest pavement HM ever but considering the context I'll take it as a win. Basically first three miles at 6:30/mi, next 5 miles at 7:00/mi and last few at 8:00/mi. I know, I know substantial positive split but I just fell into survival rhythm and didn't completely blow up and even managed to cruise on nose-breath the last few miles. But my legs were definitely not fresh, but that was expected.
Bittersweet at the end seeing my new friends off home like at the end of summer camp but we made some great memories !
Aiming to run another camp in the new year, if any of you yahoos wanna dose of tropical heat mid-winter!

For me the Janji tights are good from just around freezing to about 50F. Colder than freezing and I'm either not running or I'm wearing full-on pants. I will probably get another pair when they are on sale.
For sizing: I'm 5'9', 140#, 30" waist. S is a snug and correct fit. They feel crazy tight at first but after a few minutes the tightness feels good. I also think mine are less tight than they were when new.ride bikes, climb, ski, travel, cook, work to fund former, repeat.

I’ve worn fleece lined Pearl Izumi bike tights for running for years but just picked up a pair of Patagonia Terrebonne joggers yesterday. Not tights and not insulated but I’m hoping they fill the gap from to [emoji6][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] degrees. Haven’t worn them yet.

I like the Janji trail paints, they fit well, but they are very thin and I think anything colder than about 30 degrees and I would start wanting them to be warmer. I bet 25 with a light wind would make me pretty unhappy, we'll see how much winter running I do, but there's a chance I end up with the fleece lined as well.
They make a great thin layer to go under touring pants, but again not much in the way of added warmth. Definitely better than shorts, but I bet I could wear them up to 60 degrees and not be stupid hot, a great layer to have in the inventory.

Running, Anyone...?
Milking the dry trails before the next storm arrives. Nice bigger loop and checked off a smaller local summit I’ve been wanting to get to for a bit. Grunt of a climb up to it. Rest pretty runnable. Some bushwhacking thrown in for good measure.
Edit to remove the emoji monster when I try to post pics

Cloudy and windy here today but almost 60 degrees. Passed a couple of bow hunters who were in head-to-toe insulated camo. I was in shorts and a t-shirt and sweating.

That brings back memories!
Around thirty years ago during hunting season , I was doing a run, alone, somewhere in the Laguna Mountains, east of San Diego. I was hauling ass on a downhill section, and a hunter, standing next to a tree right next to the trail, saw me and stood motionless.
Never saw him.
As I pass his location, he exclaims loudly "How ya doing?" Without breaking stride, I responded "Good enough!" and continued hauling ass.
Silly boy! Think you're gonna startle me during a run when I'm in MY element?!
Hunters shouldn't be required to wear orange, they should be forced to wear clown costumes. Well, some of 'em at least.Your dog just ate an avocado!

Nice DTM! How’s the shoulder?

Shoulder is doing great. 14 weeks out and the doc is really impressed considering how bad it was ("It was like a bomb went off in there"). Got cleared to ride ride the roadie. He'd prefer I not ski yet, but as long as I don't crash....
Turkey day snow stoke.

I ran a Boston Qualifying sub-4 marathon in Sacramento this past weekend. Training was a mixed bag, I never did a training run longer than 17 miles, but somehow I kept my pace together to the end anyway. (Ha ha, looking closely at the splits, I can see a small but significant drop in pace between mile 26 and the finish line 0.2 mile later, even though I felt like I was pushing hard at the finish, and my heart rate remained near its high for the whole race, so it looks like I was about to Hit The Wall just as the thing ended.)
I was in a world of pain for more than 48 hours after, but I'm now starting to feel okay. Just in time for ankle surgery (removing some titanium from a backpacking accident five years ago) tomorrow!

A pavement marathon? Impressive suffering!
I did one 25 years ago and it sucked even with kid legs. Doing one now would probably cripple me. Dirt only!ride bikes, climb, ski, travel, cook, work to fund former, repeat.

Running, Anyone...?
Way to go bobz!!! Nice job. Hope the ankle surgery goes smoothly.
‘Winter’ running around these parts has been good. Continuing to get out when I can.
Trying to decide on a race or two for next year as registration starts opening up around now. Decisions, decisions…

Thanks y'all! I used to do a mix of road runs and trail runs, more the latter when I lived in Marin. But trails are all hilly here, and the downhill stretches have proven hard on my knees (If I'm pushing it anyway). Level (inevitably paved) ground running has worked out well for me in recent years. (Nevertheless, I'm going to need to run the Dipsea again, maybe next year if they let me in.)
The ankle procedure went fine, and the pain isn't bad enough for me to fill the opioid prescription they gave me. No skiing until late January, but I can probably do bike rides in a week.
