Awesome work, guys! DTM, bummer about the surgery. Hope it heals quick for you! I'm finally back in Seattle after a month away and have a bunch of runs planned for the next couple of weeks.

Yes, agreed. And while the people love the Salomon Adv 12, if you don't think you'll need 12L of storage - I would wager most people don't unless they're doing very long days, very bad weather, or hut trips - a ~5L vest might be a better fit. And Salomon makes the Adv in 5L, so you could check that out.

The two main leaders in the category seem to be Salomon and Ultimate Direction. I have a 5L Adv Skin from Salomon and an 11L Anton K vest from Ultimate Direction. Both good with different features.

He didn't say anything about doing that. My understanding is that he's just stitching my labrum back onto the glenoid.

Depends on how you define "run." I'll be in a sling for minimum 4 weeks, so road or easy low-risk trail running will be at least 2 months. Proper mountain running is probably more like 4 months, but we'll see how things go.

Back on it today with one of my favorite loops in the I90 corridor. Putrid Pete - >Mt. Defiance - >Mason Lake. 9.5mi and just over 4K of climbing. Fun ridge section connecting the peaks with awesome loamy downhill. Definitely felt it after my break. Unfortunately our weather is Seattle is going to be rough this week foiling a few plans. Next week head to Utah to drop 2 sons off at college and hoping to tick a few boxes while I'm down there.

Yeah, it felt so good to get out. Bummed you are down, but with 2 kids in school there and a bunch of family, I'll be back plenty. Plus now I have time to get in better shape to not hold you back too much.

Another quick one out today. 6mi, 2700 vert on Tiger Mountain. Still need to get my cardio fitness back, but feeling stronger. Today was a special one as it's the 1yr anniversary of when I had my heart attack last year while out (road) running. So glad I was given a second chance.

Good for you bad for me. I want beta. I’ve put it off too long and am facing the fact that the older I get the harder the recovery.

Hope it went well and that you heal up quickly.

Nice! Good luck on your 50! Not sure I'll ever be ready for one of those.

I've been meaning to post some of my runs from Utah and since I got back to Seattle. Have had fantastic weather mostly and I got out of Utah before the smoke moved in. Will get some pics posted later today. We are in prime running season right now.

Go get it Dude!!! Will be a gorgeous run. Go out slow.

I recognize some of those spots in your last pics. Good stuff!

I’ve been horribly unmotivated and life has got me a bit down the past month or so. Really need to get back in a routine.

Thanks! Im excited, should be interesting. Slow and steady is certainly my MO

Goes without saying but I’ll say it anyway, get out and do a soul cleanser, it’s the antidote to that life down stuff.

And the best time of year to do it!

Any of you have recovery drinks that you swear by? I ebb and flow in my running, and we're on the upswing to ultras again next year. In past ultra cycles I've used 1st Endurance Ultragen after long and hard efforts with good results. I am not a scientist and have no idea how much any of this has changed in the last 4-5 years. Anything new and groundbreaking out there or should I stick with what's worked?

Just drink something with mostly carbs and maybe a little protein. If you want to get fancy you could mix whey protein like 10g and table sugar like 40g. Put it in a shaker bottle and drink up.

"Sports nutrition" is such a scam.
