I was the Nike Outlet a couple of days ago and they had a pair of the Vapor Fly Next %, the crazy foam/carbon distance racing shoe that everyone was in a tizzy about a while back. They were unlike anything I have ever tried on. They felt bouncy, squishy, oddly unstable when just walking as the heels are weird. Super light and I loved the upper. I almost bought them even though I have no need for racing shoes just because they felt so weird in a cool way. In the end I resisted as after a year and a half of achilles tendonitis and surgery after a meniscus tear, I'm trying to run slower not faster most of the time. But they were really cool.

Rab Pulse is great for sun shirts. It’s trimmer and lighter than Patty. They discontinued it but there’s still some around. Looks like the Rab Force is the new sun shirt.

So there's this place called Trail Runner Nation" somewhere on the web, and it has a shitload of podcasts for one's listening pleasure (close to six hundred). A friend texted me earlier telling me that I was mentioned by name in a recent podcast and in a very complimentary way. I looked it up and it was shout-out from an old friend for my performance from a 100 miler back in 2000. That was muchas k00l! I anticipate seeing that old friend at Hard Rock next month.

Just listened to their WD episode to get excited for the race yesterday. Are you doing Hard Rock this year? If so, crush it!

I'll be there supporting a friend. Will probably do a few training runs with her over the next couple of weeks.

Very cool. I’ve been considering doing the “soft rock” for a while and might do it this September. I also just learned Kilian and Francois will both be racing - stoked to follow what goes down.

run
What a beautiful place, I'd like it too, but I won't be able to run because of my health.

Work has kept me from getting out much, but I was able to break free for an evening run tonight. 8mi & 3700 vert. Was 10 minutes off my best time on the route. Beargrass is still hanging around due to the late spring here in Seattle.

I had my first real run related injury. I haven't been running a lot lately, so did several flat beach runs of about three miles...no problem. Did a bunch of trail hikes with a little running thrown in, no problem, Did seven mile run and walk on trails, no problem. Then I did an easy 3 mile trail with minimal ups and downs, and my knee puffed up like a toad. Took two weeks off, but was SCUBA diving and wearing fins, etc, and had little improvement. Got COVID which led to two weeks on total down time so the fluid (joint effusion) finally went down, but any walks with any hills and I can feel my knee telling me not to do it. Very frustrating.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot

Nice, Buke. I love that route. We're pretty fortunate out here.

Nice! I ran that same route (counter-clockwise from Denny Creek TH) last Sunday in slightly cooler mist. It was really rad to connect some new-to-me summer trails, and the trail between Melakwa and Pratt was sweet. Only downside was walking the extra couple miles back up the road to get my car. I'm excited to try and connect something like Defiance down to the Middle Fork in future weeks.
Glad to have stumbled onto this thread... it's been a long returning road to running for me after losing momentum and progress during the pandemic. I've been working back up on aerobic base over the last three months, and that loop was the longest run I'd had in 2 years. It felt good, but based on how I felt the following days, I think I need to run a lot more hills!Last edited by 3pin; 07-27-2022 at 05:36 PM.
