I want to reuse some STH holes but mount is about 1mm too big (I can clamp the heel, but then scootch the boot back forth a little).
There is plenty of room to refill the heel for smaller BSL and reuse the current toe holes shifting me forward a bit, which I don't mind as these are some old 191 Katanas.
But I wouldn't mind being able to keep them drilled only once.

Are there any Salomon heels that match the mounting pattern of the STH but have a greater range of heel adjustment than the STH14 (the binder I tried)?

Heard 900 series with tab adjustment has more range than wormscrew heel.

Is a Z12 ti acceptable for a 5’3” 130lbs woman? Mostly stays on the ground, lots of tree skiing. Wife got new skis and wants me to remount the Z12s. They have served her well so far, but I’ll buy her something new if they are past their good-sense expiration.

    They'd be fine, IMHO.

As long as she doesn't need WTR/touring compatible bindings, I'd trust my ladyfriend on the z12 (she uses the warden cuz she likes her touring boots).

Depending on wear or how old they are, you could get a torque test done to be sure.

Anyone have some 95mm brake arms or a 95mm wide 916/920 brake assembly for sale? Time to get the OG wizard explosives back in the rotation for spring skiing.

    Thanks guys.

No compatibility issues with her current boots but that is a good point. We’ve been living in the Guardian zone for years and it might be time to upgrade on the next set of boots.

    Bump.

About to pull the trigger on my first Sallys: I assume getting STH2 90mm brakes onto a 97mm waist Camox shouldn't be too much of a problem? No bending? Slight bend?

I'm looking at '21 STH2 WTR 13 vs Tyrolia Attack² 13 GW both for $150. Feeling like the STH2 brings more the table, but have only skied STH2's one time. Thanks dudes!

That'll probably take a little bending, but shouldn't be too bad. Unless there's a major price/availability difference, I'd do 100s though.

Thanks, just looked again and found 100mm for the same price. I'll go that route - thanks again

The Z12 Ti have tracks that the binding slides onto and that track is often cracked. I had 2 pair and 2 tracks cracked, so I replaced them with the non-Ti versions, (prolly steel), and they've been solid. Mrs. Plug is 115 ponds and cracked one, FYI.

If you are really talking about 1mm too big (long), i have had success in taking a dremmel tool to the flanged part of the wormscrew to give me that tiny bit of extra movement if I am just too long. Just grind it down so the screw can move that tiny bit into the housing.

EDIT - if you have movement in the binding, you probably are much more than 1mm off by the time you get forward pressure dialed

The plastic baseplates on my 916s are disintegrating. Does anyone know if replacements can still be ordered, or do I need to get creative?

The toe baseplates? STH16 AFD's are interchangeable with 916.

Looking at the 2010 Salomon shop manual, the STH series had 19mm of adjustment range. Looks like the Z-series tabbed heels had 28mm of adjustment range. You should be good with any of the following models:
    • Z14
    • Z12 Oversized
    • Z12 Ti (reputation for breaking)
    • Z12
    • Z10
    • 711
    • L9

Sth2 16 skiing mags; how good are these, durability wise, compared to Steels/916/920s?

Had the S916s and STH2s. IMO the STH2s are better. No weird forward pressure and no wings coming loose. Also have never ejected a heelpiece out the rear of the housing like I have the 916s.

Nice, thanks Marcus. Trying to figure out if all new binders have to be Pivots or if I can save some cash with STH2s.

Salomon fan boi here. The STH2 is a great binding as is the 916. I love the metal beef and clunk of stepping into the 916 or even older 997 equipe, another killer binder. I have only had one set of 916 with the loosening toe wing issue, it is easily resolved tho. Can’t say I’ve noticed a finicky fwd pressure issue so ymmv.

Haven't had loose toe wing AFDs, but some loosening of the wing screws, solved with a touch of loc tite. Never had issues with fwd pressure either. I have "a few" steels and 920s lying around, so not in a rush, but keep noticing cheapish STH2s, so open for trying something new if they're up to snuff.

Worth noting that the new GW STHs seem to be different. I don't trust them at first glance, but with some time I'm guessing we'll see how they do this season.
