    OPENING DAY!!! WOOT WOOT WOOT!!!

The dreary days of Celtics Basketball and Bruins Hockey have finally come to a close. No longer will I be forced to watch sub par sporting events, baseball starts today!!!

As a sox fan, I gotta say I'm pretty excited about my team. And even more excited about our division, 36 games against the Blue Jays, who look pretty strong, and the Yankees, who have a killer offensive line up, will be a blast to watch, especially if our pitching is as good as I think it will be. How do your teams look? Any predictions??

Rockies opening day tomorrow, 2:00. I'll be there for the 4th straight year (every year I've lived here). I'll be happy if the Rox go .500 this year- but either way, they're a very fun team to watch with all their young players. They do it the "old fashioned" way- bringing players up through their farm system.

I'm also a big Yankees fan, but their season outcome is usually figured out already, so I don't worry about that as much. Its more fun to root for a team that has to struggle.

I agree with your assessment of the Rockies, they are a fun team to watch, as is any team that relies heavily o player development ( a stark contrast to the style of th AL East powerhouses). Oakland is another team I generally enjoy watching, so long as they aren't playing Boston.

This is the first year in a long time we are expecting a good season from the Tigers. It feels good.

Even with Kenny Rogers out the kittys will be fine.

Just got my Mets season tickets yesterday, but won't be able to use them.

Will have to settle for some Sunday afternoon games at Coors... maybe weekday games as well since my work is a block away.

Tigers should also be a great team to watch, good pitchers, solid line-up. The AL Central is going to be a brawl this year though, as the twins also have a pretty solid team, and the Indians are not to be discounted either.

Let me know when you want to go- I'll be up for some weekday games for sure. Day games at Coors during the week are NICE. I've got all of July and most of August free this summer, so I plan on hitting a few.

You should have jumped on your steel horse and ridden down here. The Sox and the twins have spring training across the river from me.

My wife’s company does cross marketing with both of them so she gets free tickets. Neither of us are baseball fans so we don’t go.

The town has been nuts with that Japanese pitcher, special K….Diced ham….whatever, here.

    Lotta Sox mania around here.

I'm fired up. Huuuuuuge time. I also got some spring training in a couple weeks ago, heckling the shit out of fat Miguel Cabrera at a Marlins-Cards spring training game- I was pretty happy with the way things went for the first time out; now I just have to keep doing what I've been doing and it's going to be a productive season. The most important thing is that I'm healthy.

I saw this thread bumped and I thought for sure someone commented on A-Rod's first error and strikeout of the season.

Giambi singles to center, Yanks 2-0.

And I'm out of here for today- heading downtown for the Rox opener.

A-Rod committed an error in the top of the first. Missed an easy foul pop. What an excellent start for his "walk" year. It won't be long now til you Yankee fans are all over his ass....

My mlb.com isn't working for some reason, bummer. Better figure that out before 4:10! Isn't that what IT departments are for anyway?

Dogers opening day pitcher has more wins than any other pitcher since 2002 aside from Oswalt.
I think he used to throw for some team back east.

Pat Burrell just struck out and looked like the worst kid on your fifth grade gym class team in the process. I can't stand that guy on my team.
This season is shaping up just as I expected.
    Awesome.

Well you can have too much crappy pitching...look at the phillies- 8 mil a year to Adam Eaton, 6-8 million a year to Jon Lieber and about the same to a 40 year old jamie Moyer and injured Freddy Garcia.
Just a money pit out there with no closer and no bullpen.
    Awesome again.
