I used to live behind Liquor Lyles so I know the block party. When are they playing? We'd fly back for the weekend for sure.
It's in May, playing for Our Lady of the Lake church in Mound. I'll get the exact date and the rest of the bands. I think tix are $18 and includes dinner. This is a Catholic thing so they'll have beer and maybe gambling.

Spent WAY TOO many nights at Lyles. When were you there?

As for "The College" a good friend of mine went there and we always give him a ton of shit about it, having to drive to St. Olaf to find women that shaved and didn't protest on a daily basis, etc. I of course was a great disappointment to my dad and didn't apply at St. Olaf but rather Gustavus, then ended up at the U.

I'll get you exact dates and PM ya.

    Jay
Five minutes into the drive and you're already driving me crazy...

    Neil’s got some decent songs.

He’s got a ranch down valley and suffers from Alzheimer’s. After the Basalt Mountain fire, he did a private concert for the First Responders.
Some of these old timers can’t remember shit, but they can still sing. He’s OK in my book!

    Agreed.

Neil Diamond was a stud back in the day.

I saw him in Las Vega$ for New Year's Eve in the late 90s. He bought the whole arena a glass of champagne and counted the new year down with style.

And the fact that a coverband in N.Cali named SuperDiamond has thrived for years now, proves the point that even the X/Y generation likes Neil!

Never have seen Neil but I gave the cover band Super Diamond their first paid gig and even few more after that. I was a proud impresario when they made it all the way onto the letterman show. And they’re still going almost 30 yrs later

Frist concert I went to was Neil in the Tacoma Dome when I was 8. His blue sequin shirt was ON POINT and he sang Forever in Blue jeans (3) times. My dad's favorite artist, so I celebrate his whole catalog.

Ya should have had a Dirtbag fund..... The amount of $$$ to be made selling t-shits, hoodies and BB-caps is kind of amazing, we were banking around $5K a season at MLB and Big Sky was 2x that.

So is the bump of a 15 year old thread.

Neil is sure not anywhere near KING DIAMOND...now that guy fucking rocks!

King would sacrifice Neil on his altar ...but he'd wear PPE since all the old 60's hipsters have blood diseases

It would be really cool if there was an African American Neil Diamond impersonating performer that lived in a ski town somewhere and played regularly as.....yeah, Black Diamond.

Believe it or not. That is the name on his birth certificate.

I still think his performance on the last waltz was amazing.
